"Contracts for wells sound good. Do any of you have a way to scan the Old City from above; get a lay of the land?" The little halfling shuffles a bit then crinkles his nose "Well, I could easily get to the HIGHEST building roof in the city and see what I see when I look down? Though by hunting for wells we may end up running into those 'other' jobs as well." he states matter of factly

Moktli replies to the group, his eyes bright with prospects of payment and violence:
"Hunting deadbois or monsters in the alleys! But if we got a water-finder, Moktli will guard if ya want to hunt for wells. Valmera has good idea: find our own hidey hole away from the bossmen."
He addresses the tari:
"Bax! There you are. Know any abandoned stash-houses? Whuddabout your kin?"
To the halfling:
"Hawkins, is it? Hmm. We both challenged in the heights. You got some cred with bossmen, ya? Ask how high you can look around in the tallest towers in this wreck of a town?"
He adds:
"So where did Ibub-Abu- the guy with the kirres go?"

"So where did Ibub-Abu- the guy with the kirres go?" (Ibubesi still stands behind and to the left of Mad Mokka, quietly observing the discussion.)

(I can teleport and information gather, but no clairvoyance.)
"Shall I ask around? I've been making friends with the local tari."

(If Valmera answers Calidane's mindlink, he can cast find water, Priest Spell Compendium 1 p. 270.)

"...perhaps Hawkings could ask the House. We'd prefer a nearby well, that'd be easy to hold. But an review (and map) of all known wells might be helpful." [Bob, Hawkings seeks an audience with a superior for current known well knowledge and possibly a map of the uninhabited city? Also seek an audience with the psionics leader of the house.]

- Valmera gets a bit surprised by the mental contact and quickly recognises the cadence in the tone of voice - 'Hi, I'm not used to this type of communication. How are you? Is it everything ok?' - She mentally replies to Calidane
[OOC: Sorry, I did not read it at the time]

Calidane completes the mindlink with Valmera and telepathically sends: I'm fine, but I didn't want to become a year-long indentured House servant. They're blocking access across the bridge, though, so if I'm going into the ruins with you all, I have to find some other way in. Any suggestions?

- 'At this moment I'm not sure but we are thinking about securing a property nearby a well in the occupied area by the undead. There is a bounty in that respect, but right now I don't know how you could step in' - She replies back - 'I could try to get provisions for you in the time been, as I agreed in the yearly contract'

I have an affinity to sense water and if we can figure out a way to get past the walls I can help find a well or spring, even if it's underground, replies Calidane to Valmera. I have some food and my own water supply for now. Just need a way in! Maybe ask the others if they have any ideas? I'm sure I can help if you all can figure it out!

- 'I'll ask the others in case they have any idea and I'll let you know' - Replies back - 'I thought the only issue was the equipment and goods to be bought to exorbitant prices, but anyone could go through'
[OOC: Is the only way to reach the undead infested part of the city through the city itself Bob? Or can anyone access this part of the city?]

Those that are not aligned with the House are at a disadvantage on the NEXT day. They will need to pay or attempt to sneak, bribe or find alternate ways into the New (or Old) City. (This is the bit I'm referring to. Calidane isn't sworn to the House, so he apparently must find an alternate way into the city. I guess they don't just let people go in.)

(This is the bit I'm referring to. Calidane isn't sworn to the House, so he apparently must find an alternate way into the city. I guess they don't just let people go in.) (begin OoC:) From Bob's teaser post for this game "The east side of town is the most active, having been cleared nearly in full. House Maraneth holds this end of town solidly in it's crimson fist. The trading consortium occupies a mile long stretch of old city here. Outside the walls, a morass of tents and shanties expand outward... a makeshift mass of treasure seekers, prospectors and tribesmen that have not proven themselves to gain comfort of the walls, yet yearn to suckle at it's ancient teat. From the east we look to the west. The bulk of the ruins occupy this side of what may have been a giant river bed (if you believe that rivers were ever this big!). Two large, ancient and equally soiled stone bridges span the bone dry gorge. The gorge. One of the reasons why most trade west needs to pass through Celik proper is that the dried river bed spans from the Ringing Mountains to the north all the way to where the land itself turns black as night to the south." I believe they are policing access to/from the New City. If you were to exit the New City (presumably that's where you are now, as you could have - but didn't join up (no judgment), pass the shanty-town, exit into the desert, go out and around to escape the eyes of the guards, and enter the Old City (you'd have to bypass the river-bed/canyon) and then just pop in a hole in the City walls, traverse monstet-infrsted ruins and meet-up with us. Easy pezy! - (End OoC)

Or climb the walls. I mean, it's only expensive with those that control the easy access.
The bigger issue is if you plan on carving out a niche in the camps or between the raiders or tari. If you were to squat in the old city?...
You would need to find water and a means to eat. It would still be cheaper to rely on friends that were indentured for parts of this.
