Any of those who did not extend their servitude to the House can easily make way across the bridges to the Old City.
You just need to tell me which of the two bridges to try:
1. The South Bridge - where you fought the Greys yesterday
2. Or the North Bridge - closer to the barracks in the New City
It does take some time for House members to realise one is staying past their welcome in the newer city. Most simply go broke from having to afford the water and rations within the walls unless they make terms. I guess it might be easier to say that I start counting... now.
Squatting in the Old City is possible as I said earlier. Indentured types can do so as well, but can be called upon whenever the town decides.

Calidane will try the south bridge first.

(Bob, if Calidane is still in the new city, can't he just meet us outside the barracks and all of us walk across the bridge together? )

For sure. If you guys want to start the South Bridge as a team and investigate ruins and city blocks? We're totally good for that.
Sorry if real life has kept this a tad more stagnant than I'd prefer.

As the team crosses the bridge, Hawkings will look for the tallest structure within the ruins, be it tower or building.(up to 10 miles away)
"Time to see what's what. Who wants to look down on the city? I can take two of you..."
He'll then teleport to the roof to get a vantage of the entire city below...
[Teleport 20, rolled 18 -30 PsP's]

Given Hawking's height and the layout of the ruins? You can't see the full cityscape from this vantage.
There are towers in the distance, seemingly intact, central to the ruins and definitely within that range.
Or you could 'port somewhere like the top of the city's wall or a guard post/tower. There are more of these that spot the walls that probably aren't manned (at least by members of the House). You'd assume that most probably haven't even been explored properly either.
Or the nearest mid-sized building. That could be a block or two in from the opposing side of the South Bridge.

In that case, the group will walk to the closest, largest mid-sized building where he will instead open a man-sized portal from it's cornerstone on the street to it's roof edge.

- 'Come to the South bridge' - Valmera communicates to Calidane - 'It will be an interesting group: halfling, human with kirres, dwarf and me'

Understood, comes Calidane's mental reply, and then contact slides away as he focuses on making his way to the bridge to join the group.

As you pass the bridge together, having easily met up with Calidane, you begin the walk across the span as Hawkings scopes out a proper target to 'port to. The two giant cats seem wary and their ears perk and twitch. They look to the left in unison as you hear faint howling from below. Low grows are made, like sinister purrs. If you look over the edge and below?
A pack of about a dozen tusked creatures, like odd goraks or hounds, bound against rock, vegetation and dusty path far beneath you. Their skin is light brown, one is even white.
