Quila looks around the room and says "My skills are at the troupe's service then it seems, I like that." She smiles.
Flexing her head back to the dwur she continues speaking "I agree that we can keep those gates locked, but since it is so close I would like to take a peek over the walls. That should be quite easy since they are not very high at all."
"But let us indeed first check out the three connected warehouses complex out first and make sure that it is secure as can be for now." Quila gets ready to move to the connecting courtyard (outside) between the warehouses if no other floors or chambers are present in this one. (OOC: hopefully others follow according to Mokka's suggested strategy of 'scope all corners, Bax and you tricksy ones poke around, us warriors and the big cats ready to rumble'.)
Before she steps fully outside, she pokes her head back in to add: "Oh and there are some basilisk lizards nearby that can turn you into stone as you all saw those statues of the unlucky House Maraneth agents in the road. If we encounter them a good strategy to deal with them is necessary. Ranged attacks and maybe a way to keep them in place?"

Ibubesi moves to follow Quila outside.
"Perhaps. Does any of us possess skill with fighting without sight? That is common amongst Gladiators, no?"

"I am not sure. It could be done by a mindbender too. But that's only necessary if we want to close combat those lizards. Attacking from afar with bows or other missiles would be better. Maybe even a mindbender with telepathic attacks can hurt them from a distance?"

"Agreed, but I doubt the lizards will happily sit at range and let us pick them off. A alternate plan for when they attempt to close to melee would be advisable."
(He follows her outside - heading to the next building - and pets the Kirres) "My pretties can assault minds from afar if necessary."

The tari, Baxby, pipes up and points to the roof of the House of Nooses. "Yeh be thunkin' at ground level, eh? I'll climb up an' scan the streets while yeh check out the other buildin's. That way? Any lizzos will need to get past me scoutin'... and they probs won't be lookin' up."
He easily scampers up the pile of pitchers and the side of the brick wall.
While Hawkings is a bit fuzzy on when he was exactly hit with the mental avoidance? It was probably between 20-35' of the pole or odd building - depending on which object it was that triggered his aversion.
Moktli has blind fighting.
As for checking out the other two buildings in this corner? Either the right streetside closest to the gates or the left closer to the next block are your choices. Calidane is able to focus his drowsing and it bee-lines with the second choice - further from the gates. Perhaps that building has a similar well within?

That rear door is shut. The wooden door is slightly wider than the one you first examined. The dirt before it? Looks like it may have been more recently half opened, the dust and dirt clears out in a half circle leading outward. Since there are no footprints to be seen? Who can tell how long it's been though.

Hawkings puts his index finger to his lips as he brushes his pink feathers aside then places his right ear flat on the 2nd building's door to listen...

Quila walks towards the front door of the 2nd building asking Ibubesi and his kirre pretties along for the ride and starts looking to see if that door has the same dirt buildup as the rear door did. I also stand and listen with my ear to the door. I then try to open the front door of the building.
(Bob: quick check with you on if the shared courtyard is the undrawn/unfilled space behind the three houses in the corner you drew on the map? so basically the courtyard borders on a section of the wall too then? and what do we see further in the street building wise?)

The halfling does not hear anything unusual... or anything at all really.

...I then try to open the front door of the building. the halfling quickly jumps back and to the left, out of the doors potential swing arc. He brings both tortoise shield blades up in anticipation of a so-ut beast exploding out from the door.

(OOC: aren't we working on two different doors? I thought you were standing at the rear door there)

Yes, each of these buildings has front and rear entrances. Any windows are not of glass. On some of the smaller buildings there might be the glimmer of mica or pyrite sheets holding that purpose, otherwise, there are openings for light and ventilation higher up the taller structures. The brick buildings, such as these, are mostly intact. The mysteries of the ancients "see-meant" that the dwarves call it has been long lost. It binds not only the bricks but cobbles about the giant Athasian ghost-town.
There is little in the ways of bone frame or makeshift engineering that one often finds about the tablelands here (at least in this section of the ruins). Any hinges are of weak metals - lead or bronze alloy, so apparently there was a shortage of such things much like the present... at least in this stage of architecture. Perhaps older sections will reveal more useful salvage.
There are plenty of buildings up and down the rows of empty street, random detritus and encroaching dry grasses. (I can map further this block tomorrow.) The courtyard is not much of anything to be honest, just a patch in between the three warehouses that contain the inix bones, dust and tumbleweed. Where did all the people go? There is no evidence of battle, just the scant clues of fire within the House of the Noose.
You hear faint howls to the north. Probably more of those damned beasts you saw in the ravine earlier today. The cats eyes widen, perhaps begging their owner to hunt. In fact, Ral & Guthay salivate and begin to growl under their breath. It's a definite reminder that these beasts require a great deal of meat to survive...
The door is stuck. But Quila does believe she hears a faint scratching or noise from the other side. Someone other than the halfling will probably have better luck forcing it, if that's what you wish to attempt.
