Hurk notices the message is in cramped elven script. He does not know how to read this. "This isn't the trade tongue..." and offers the note to anyone else (Kleys will lean over at look at it.)

- Or at the very least, gaining our revenge on those that took our tribesmate's lives.. - Kem repeats Yishka's words like to refresh her own ideas and turns to the elf woman - And what do you understand by this? Which type of revenge? - as she looks all around to check for the group's safety before looking back to the brothers - Because that could mean many things, maybe not as risky as stepping into the city-state..

As Mak verbally directs the animals in their digging efforts, he looks to Yiska. "I'm happy to help you. Be specific in your desires. What level of revenge will satisfy you? Obviously, killing the demon is a part, but what of the merchant house that wronged you... what level of revenge are you looking for?"

"Then let's get some." Yiska and Haske say in almost unison regarding the dream spider webbing. Khuv nods. Druuso crosses his arms and grins.
"The conjurer of the thing that took out tongues claimed to be from House Stel. We were also ambushed by Silt Stalker tribesmen soon after the attack. We would need to do some investigating once we return to the Stone City. We assume they still have a hand in the business trading in town."
The elven bard (Druuso) adds, "We can always move the ship elsewhere - perhaps where we docked a-shore before on our first trip to Nibenay together? Or by the giants? Heck, even Balic. We could see if Coden could keep an eye on it."
Abez joins in.
"We still have contract to deliver flint, yeah? I'd like to get back to that to be honest. Sounds profitable enough."

Kleys reads the note.
"Dear quarry. You've proved most difficult to dispatch. While one of our employers is now dead, another still lives. We are watching you. It is only a matter of time before we catch you and bring evidence of your death to gather our wage. No personal qualm, purely business. Surely you understand."
"And I'll have you know one last thing..."
"I prepared explosive runes today."
Kleys takes 28 points of fire damage as the scroll erupts.
I need a save from Hurk for the possibility of half damage.

(The note blows Kleys' face off. -4 hp, feel free to heal him.)

The elf does fall to the ground. His clothes are currently smouldering.

- Kem gets the blanket from her backpack and covers him in and out, to attempt to extinguish the flames

Laakh picks himself any any others who hunkered down by the blast, sprints over to throw handfuls of mud/dirt on Kleys to stop the burning, and helps Hurk however he can. He is beside himself. As others come to help, he starts Life Detection facing east, max range, scanning left and right for a target.
"A bomb targeting Kleys. I was STUPID to not warn us more..."

Pallia moves quickly to heal Kleys with a cure serious wounds spell.

"Purely business indeed..." The giantess stands and brushes the soot and crispy singed hair off her cheeks and face.
She then picks up the wizard and sets him on his feet
"Good work Pallia. Let's get the Defiler's things and be gone from this place. I still need to rest."
Turning to Mak "Little brother, once your beasts have dug enough can I pull some of their lifeforce to heal mine?"

(I screwed up, Pallia can't cast cure serious wounds b/c it's a Cosmos domain spell. Assume that's two cure light wounds instead.)

Kleys is back to 7 HP, conscious but alive.
He will need to inform the others of what was writ upon the parchment (other than the attempted magical assassination).
The rest of your crew has fanned out and look to the vegetation, sky and the white ruin. Abez and the elves have bows drawn and readied, but no targets to choose.
If you continue to dig? Let's say it takes another turn to get 6 feet down...
...and still no evidence of the defiler or his rods. The earth is a bit looser than standard dirt, but not by much.

He will need to inform the others of what was writ upon the parchment (other than the attempted magical assassination). He does so. Brushing the dried blood and char off himself, he says: "Who's looking for you folks and F**k them; if they could kill us any time they wanted to (obviously what they want imply by this - gestures to his face), they would have already. Screw them, I'm not doing their job for them. LET THEM COME."
