I mean, I guess you can hack off limbs (DM pout). Point being is that they aren't free to escape and hang perhaps with their feet 3-5 feet off the ground. Your party has a lot of short folk... I guess I was just imagining something more scene worthy than a weird, clumsy pinata number. (Ibubesi will happily disappoint any omniscient beings viewing the scene from afar, chopping limbs off undead one at a time until only the torso/head remains. Then he'll cut the defenseless undead down and carefully behead it, then repeat.) "Come, it is much like felling a tree. The best plans are often the least satisfying feeling."

Easily done. Just takes a few minutes of teamwork.

The halfling curiously yet cautiously looks down the well with his torch while everyone is killing undead...

Quila nocks an arrow on her bow, targets an undead's head, slowly breathes in and out, and let's fly. The arrow lodges itself squarely into the undead's former brain.
(OOC: Rolled a natural 20, so ..that one ought to be a goner)
If the undead is no longer moving Quila makes sure, hopefully with the help of Calidane or Valmera, to cut one down too, saying "Baxby and Calidane's night rest will be better for sure now." When the undead she destroyed comes down Quila makes sure to also get the noose for later casting of Know Age on that.

The uncovered well is caked in bird feces. The mechanism within is broken. It looks like the two supports that rest near the topside have broken off, as the machine itself lies six feet under the well rim. If you scrape some bird shit, you might be able to locate the holes that the frame was secured in...
But that's your decision. Gross work. It smells rank here, damp and moldy.
Quila grabs the dead man's noose. It does in fact look newer than the other ropes nearby. The three undead are put to rest.

Scraping himself and his weapons clean of undead ichor: "Baxby, come let us search this building now."
(They'll search the room for the usual: treasure, monsters, obvious traps, items of extreme unusualness, etc.)
Edit: (Oh, and he'll carefully pack up the live eggs for sale - in whatever manner is necessary to keep them viable/alive).

"There's water down there too. Maybe it's connected to the first buildings well? Won't know until I've rested. Do we check out the third building now?" Asks the halfling who is covering his nose from the stench

"We might as well make sure that Baxby and Calidane don't have unexpected surprises," Quila responds to Hawkings.
(OOC: Bob, you meant to say the dead man's noose looks newer than the unusable ropes like we found in warehouse 1, right? Or compared to which rope otherwise?)
"The wells might indeed be connected. But if they are, who is to say they are not connected even to a larger underground system? And how would we find out? Is that something you can do after resting, Hawkings?"

"We might as well make sure that Baxby and Calidane don't have unexpected surprises," Quila responds to Hawkings. "I would greatly appreciate that."Calidane makes a slow turn and says, "Assuming I'm not murdered in my sleep by something sneaking in here overnight, when you come back later we can press on to spread the safe zone. Whether the watercourses are connected doesn't really matter that much right now; we can investigate that in more detail later, if we start to turn this place habitable."

There are moldering ropes here-and-there in this warehouse and dried brittle bundles in the first building. The nooses have the look of newer fabrication in other words, usable. If anyone has any skill they believe pertains to rope making or appraisal, I can take some rolls for possible further detail. The rest of this room has only a slight difference towards the west wall in comparison to the previous building. There an ancient wooden table (covered in dung, debris & detritus) has a trio of thick black candle stubs sitting on clay plates. They are in different states of use, melted down with dramatic wax. Something like this, but unlit: The corpses are devoid of anything interesting, except for one leathern body that has a black tattoo still visible upon its chest. It shows a hammer over a shattered spear.

Quila rolls the noose rope in her hands, handling it to see if she can get a feeling for how it was made or how well it is made.
When helping to take down the corpses and seeing the hammer and spear, Quila tries to remember if she ever saw the symbols of the black tattoo.
(OOC: Bob. Not sure but I got seamstress/tailor so I know about yarns and how things are spun and about relative tensile strengths I guess. Would you allow a roll on seamstress/tailor? If so, I rolled a 18 vs. 15. So, that's a big fail. For the symbols I try and use my Ancient History, rolling a 12 vs 13.)
Quila distractedly looks up at Ibubesi, muttering "Yeah yeah I'm coming. Stupid mystery ropes. Who made them and why and when."

These symbols are nothing contained in books in the further north, that's for certain.
As a tailor or seamstress? I guess you would know that most ropes have a trusted period of time since manufacture of about 5-6 years. After that, you should probably replace anything old in your stock... unless you're talking giant hair. That stuff is a different story. This hempen/plant fiber variety is very susceptible to age.
You think that someone or something has replaced these nooses to ensure that these bodies hang. But for what reason? A warning? Eternal torture? Something else?
Or perhaps they were magically or psionically enhanced.
The third warehouse door facing the courtyard is stuck. Tell me if you wish to try the other entrance (facing the street close to the odd poles) or if you want to combine strength to open the one in front of you.
