The second day in the old city... (Trio of nooses)

(The following I do after Valmera and Baxby have calmed down again and been stopped by Moktli and/or Calidane who are still on ground-level.)

Looking to Ibubesi and Hawkings, Quila says "It does not seem to be detecting on the basis of race or psionics but just being a lifeform? Maybe it was designed to keep out people but then again if you think this was once a bustling city this will not have been its original function. It must be a degraded device of some sorts. I do have one thing I would like to try myself though, but I would really appreciate if someone, Moktli or Calidane would overbear me or stop me from running away if the pole/orb does still have effect on me."

Quila stands in the road outside of range and pulls up her hood. Sinking back into her mind she calls upon the Way: she conjures up a noose warehouse around her ego, completely blanketing her life energy from inspection. Once she has concealed herself from psionic sensing she moves toward the gate, stopping before the odd-shaped building's front. If nothing has happened by then, she dons a tortoise blade, looks about and stays very alert while she starts moving to the back of that building.

(OOC: Activating Conceal Thoughts devotion, rolling a 14 vs 18 - success; activating Power Manipulation nwp, rolling a 17 vs 10 - fail so no powercheck bonus; Also Alertness nwp, rolling a 13 vs 18 - success.)

(Ibubesi sighs as the Kirres' languidly clean themselves and flop their tails in boredom. He nonetheless watches the Orbs and Quila carefully, noting what powers or how much PSP are expended by all.)

The orb on the pole closest to the building is the only that activates.

You can figure it's about a forty foot range from the strange totem that it activates.

Conceal thoughts does keep you from being affected.

It takes Ibubesi a solid minute of haranguing to stop the two from advancing all the way to the gorge (once river).

If Quila notices the orb does not activate for her she makes a walk around the oddshaped building, inspecting it a bit more, then she walks quickly back to her starting point outside of the range and stops the Thought Concealment.

A triumphant look and broad smile upon her fair face, she eyes the group and exclaims "now we can go sell the meat and eggs!"

(Bob, how far is the activating orb away from warehouse 3 and the interior of that? Is it safe to say that is outside of the range of the orb?)
(Also, what is this talk about an activated totem?)

I referred to the orb on a pole as a totem. I was imagining a totem pole last night. I try not to repeat phrases too often when typing (says the man who wrote activate in two sentences in a row in the above post, damned lazy writing).

The range gets close to the front door of warehouse 3, but knowing it's there - you can walk close to the building frame and avoid said effect.

Ah! Thought I was missing something.

There are *no* entrances to be seen. Towards the top though? Looks like there might be horizontal slits some 25 feet up (out of perhaps a 30' height).

You can be two rounds in.

Quila starts walking back to the New City, letting Moktli take point as he wished, so the group can sell of the meat and eggs.
While in the New City, Quila does try to be on the lookout for either the Maraneth dwur leader or the giantess to see if any new things are happening.

Walking back she also asks Valmera and Calidane to be on the lookout for material to fortify the warehouses or for covers to keep warm at night, as Quila does not have the trader or merchant experience to know what is needed.

Ibubesi will seek out:
- a likely purchaser of the meat
- someone to tan the hides or buy the hides (he's going to want to know the relative prices for each, incase it'll make more sense/profit to get the hides tanned and then sell them vs. just selling the raw hides - plus, he's interested in the process)
- a Kes‘trekel trainer to sell the eggs to, and to get info from (he might want to train Kes‘trekels himself at some point).

- Valmera looks to Quila - Yes, we need something to cover us up, but if a couple of you go to town, I don't mind to start repairing the best house, as you will be able to go back to Celik, but not us - Looking to Calidane and then to everyone - I have knowledge of trading but you might get a decent trade, unless you want to keep the howlers' pelts to be traded later on

Being a "Lifer" of the house, Hawkings will help negotiate price/terms for Ibubesi and the team. His level of servitude may grant them ever so slightly a benefit in negotiations.
