Smiling, Quila moves backward off of the bridge and follows Hawkings and Moktli around the corner. She is surprised to see Valmera and Calidane who she expected to stay with the noose warehouses. Quila quickly steps through the portal and ruffles Hawking's hair and feathers when she sees him next: "I like your style a lot"

No one detects you... ...this time. You hear the sounds of dwur shouting from the direction of the bridge, but it quickly gets lost in the bustle of the day. There are still yips from below. Some murmuring and street traffic is about the ancient cobbled thoroughfare and the flow of bodies head more to the north, away from the gates. Smells of cooking meat (was that inix and kip?) can be detected; burnt dasl herb as well. Braying cries of carru can be heard as well.

The little halfling breaths a visible sigh of relief and closes the portal as fast as he opened it. "Come, let's sell our findings. Baxby can you help me find a suitable hidden nook close to here so we'll be better hidden the NEXT time I attempt this city entrance?"

"I think it's fine for me to be in the city, just not having the House Mareneth connection means everything will be more expensive," says Calidane. "But we're all in this together... right?"

"I think it's fine for me to be in the city, just not having the House Mareneth connection means everything will be more expensive," says Calidane. "But we're all in this together... right?" "Correct, but perhaps Hawkings can provide you with some of his greater ration of food and water." (Ibubesi will lead or follow as appropriate to find a place to: 1) Sell or smoke the Sand Howler meat - deepening on pricing. 2) Sell the live Kes'trekel eggs for training, and learn about keeping/training Kes'trekels. 3) Sell or tan the Sand Howler hides, depending on pricing differences. 4) Price out Kes'trekel droppings as fertilizer.)

"I've still got plenty of water, but if someone would be willing to buy food at the preferential rate, that would probably be a big help."

Quila looks at Valmera: "Since you have trading experience maybe you are the better one of us to negotiate prices on the meat and egg sales and to find out pricing differences. I can assist whenever merchants start talking about rules, tariffs and all such bureaucratic things."
Looking at Hawkings, she adds: "And Hawkings, being a lifer, should be able to get a far better deal too."
Looking around at the rest, she adds: "So we should be on the lookout for material to reinforce the warehouses with, right? And we want rations for several days so we can stay out there, or not?"
(For herself, Quila will be on the lookout for any gossip or info on recent happenings, weird activity in the (old) city, or rumours on the wider Tablelands. Maybe something she overhears, that she will inquire into, etc.)

- Looking at Quila - I can certainly try, but I'd like someone else to come with me, just in case. We might also need a more secure place here to rest by the time we come from the outskirts. Any ideas? You've been here the longest - making a reference to the teleport gate - I'm new here but surely I will try to bargain the best prices I can!

He goes with Ibubesi to determine pricing...

Standing next to Valmera, Quila puts a hand on her shoulder and gives her a gentle squeeze. "I will come along and assist you where I can." She puts her hand down again and continues, "I might know ways but if you want to stay together as a group in the New City, it's either gonna cost us or it will lead to awkward situations for both house agents and non-affiliated. That is simply because of established rules and that all house agents feel if another is a house agent."
Looking at the man with the felines, Quila nods in the direction of the main thoroughfare leading to the market and winks at him: "Lead the way Ibubesi, I think the whole group will tag along. At least Hawkings, Valmera, and myself can help get the best prices and deals it would seem."

- Thank you Quila, a new place and we all know how a marketplace experience might end if not careful - Looking to her and then nodding when she related going all together

(We should get nails or whatever to attach things, too).
"I'd prefer to get our building supplies from the ruins, if possible. It will be less obvious and expensive."

Moktli indeed tags along, adding his thought on what go wrong in a marketplace with a jaunty table-flipping gesture. “Kidding.”
“Sorta…”

There are two obvious avenues for trade (and a few less obvious).
One is directly with House Maraneth, at the trading pavillion within the new city walls.
Second is the Elven Market outside the walls.
Less obvious? Hmm. There's the tari somewhere on the outside west walls of the old ruins. Not too easy to access here, but Baxby could act as a contact to get within.
The other outside-the-wall folk might also pay or trade. Sometimes nikaal range from the north, kreen occasionally from the west and the occasional scrab, aarakocra or desert sentient.
If you decide to trade with the house, I can give you the amount of coin they would trade for eggs, guano, hides and other scavenged items. Otherwise, hunting down individual personae might take time.
