They had odd stares a-plenty. That was for certain. The sprawl of dun colored tents outside the new city walls of Celik - manned mainly elves and poorer treasure seekers, threw a biased and general narrowed eye gaze upon the odd quartet. Axunelu the reptilian mutated giant, Larl & Sniks (blue skinned nikaal) and the skittish A-khoo. The latter was a thin, emaciated aarokocra woman that flew-skipped within reach of the others.
The four were low on supplies, water and... given that the out-of-wallers didn't seem so welcoming? Found themselves walking into the new city, a day after a sandstorm had come out of the western mounts. They hadn't much sleep, having taken shelter near a rocky outcropping to the east along the trade road leading to the ruins of Celik.
There is nary a broy house in the Tablelands that doesn’t mention the riches found beneath the city reborn. Do you have what it takes to carve out your fortune? Celik is mostly a jumble of walled ruins, but a mixture of outcasts from all across the wastes have reclaimed much of it as their home. A human named Korsun, the patriarch of House Mareneth, is said to be the leader of the city. The merchant houses of Celik control the city as nobility, and all other denizens are considered free citizens.
However, free in Athas often means that a price is still to be paid.
Your party may run into the others as soon as they leave the trader's consortium. Any common knowledge (indentured servitude, magnitude of the ruins, etc...) is fine to have acquired.

Axunelu seems to completely ignore the suspicious, hostile reactions to his group's arrival, instead speaking loudly to his companions in a heartening tone in an effort to wash away the negative experience of their travel.
[Tyr Common] "Here we are, at last--Celik, crown jewel of the tenacious House Mereneth, last stop before the Obsidian Plains, final bastion of civilization in the south. The road ends here, at the gates--as far as most are concerned, the world stops at this very city. Surrounded by its unassailable walls, we shall be safe evermore once its restoration is complete. Come! It is time to see what the city has to offer."
Axunelu would proceed to march directly toward the nearest way in, his demeanor as confident and easy as if he were the head of Mereneth himself.
