Identify results: bracelet, stave, whistle, spear, shield, potions

1st identify cast on the Bracelet of Near Perpetual Renewal, concentrating upon this item can bring upon a cloud of dreamy mist and cloud four times a month (once a week). Huh. That's not what you've seen so far.

2nd identify, first cast upon the twisted, rusty iron stave... this staff can wither and desiccate limbs struck in combat when necrotic energy is expended.

3rd identify, first cast upon the ceramic whistle... this magical artifact can command golems and some constructs. Hmm. That could have been useful.

4th identify, first cast upon the iron spear... this has magical enchantments making it's balance, edge and strength improved.

5th identify, first cast upon the shield... confirms what Quila suspected, it causes fear when the command word is spoken. Also likely to be physically strengthened given it's age.

6th, 7th, 8th & 9th identifies, four of five potions are determined. Elixir of Health, Oil of Slipperiness, Poison, and Human Control.

900 ceramics expended in components so far. You have one potion and perhaps a few more abilities to divine.

While 'Muiko is sleeping, Quila will pocket the two volumes of Myron's notebooks into her bag that were left on the table, ignoring or sidestepping his previously uttered offer to hold on to those books in this way.

Then she goes to Gruv and offers to help in any way she can in getting the Library back in order as she feels the current state is also her fault.
If rebuked or sent away, she will try and find Akos and see if there is any other news regarding Oronis and his investigations into the Strange and/or the Messenger.

You have six flasks of oil said to protect one from the ill (very ill) effects of the elemental plane of flame. The other five were found with the first journal in the chamber the sand golem women were hiding in.

Item details: These precious oils provide total invulnerability against the elemental forces on one inner plane, as well as offering the same protection as the oil of elemental invulnerability. Any character covered in the oil suffers no ill effects from the harsh environments of the elemental, para-elemental, and quasi-elemental planes. Attacks by elemental creatures are effective, but with a -1 penalty per die of damage.

A flask of oil contains enough oil to coat one man-sized creature six times or six individuals once. An application is effective for 24 hours.

Anyone covered in the oil can see, breathe, and move in the respective plane without difficulty. Just as a character can move through flames or water without difficulty when covered in the proper oil, a character doused in the oil of earth can pass through the stone of the elemental plane of Earth as if it were air.

You also have access to Niachi's Amulet of Unburning which has the following defined abilities:

When this powerful amulet is activated it encloses an area 20 feet in radius with the bearer being the center, resembling a dome of magical, shimmering force. Those within the dome will be able to survive, although uncomfortably, within fires as hot as the elemental plane of the same name.

This lasts for 8 hours, until the field needs to recharge for another 8 hours before using again.

It also acts as a ring of fire resistance (see below) for the bearer passively, even when recharging. Note that this will not confer protection strong enough to wander the plane of flame otherwise unassisted.

Ring of Fire Resistance: The wearer of this ring is totally immune to the effects of normal fires—torches, flaming oil, bonfires, etc. Very large and hot fires, molten lava, hell-hound breath, or a wall of fire spell will cause 10 hit points of damage per round if the wearer is directly within the conflagration.
Exceptionally hot fires such as red-drake breath, fireballs, flame strike, fire storm, etc., are saved against with a +4 bonus to the die roll, and all damage dice are calculated at -2 per die, but each die is never less than 1 in any event. As a rule of thumb, consider very hot fires as those that have a maximum initial exposure of up to 24 hit points, those of exceptional heat (25 or more hit points).

As far as help, Gruv is very particular in attacking this task alone, or with limited help. He is unused to needing extra hands and needs to have control in touching and seeing where each individual tome, scroll and digest is secreted and filed.

Akos is equally unresponsive as the Tribunal is in closed session today.

Chat feels the draw of the pact she agreed to, with a tug in her gut to move on quickly.

This device aids travelers seeking the elemental planes of Fire, Air, Water, or Earth (or any of the para-elemental planes – obsidian, silt, magma… perhaps others, assuming you can catch rain or bottle the sun). The compass, a small urn carved of stone and containing hollow pockets, works only in the Ethereal plane, an inner plane, or the Prime Material plane (Athas).

To make the compass work, a representative sample of material from the plane sought must be placed in the urn and the lid sealed. Thus, to find the elemental plane of Fire, a small, burning fire must be place in the urn. Once sealed, the fire will burn until the lid is opened (just as water will not evaporate from the urn as long as the lid is sealed).
When used on an inner plane or the Ethereal plane, the urn glows yellow when the characters are heading in the direction of a portal of the elemental plane they seek. On an inner plane, the compass leads to the para- or quasi-elemental planar border that exists between planes. In the Ethereal plane, the urn leads to the Ethereal curtain of the desired plane. There are no range restrictions on the inner or Ethereal planes.

On the Prime Material plane, the compass glows when the characters are headed for elemental vortices of the correct element, provided the vortex is within range. The range on the Prime Material plane is 300 miles. This may also detect other portals that can reach the elemental plane being detected. It need not be active if a trigger is required, as long as it is a permanent entry or item.
