To Coden:
"I'll have the bounty on the giants called off then. Do you think they'd trade for flint through your friends? As far as the load you have now, if you get it to the docks I can have it moved... and damn, Coden." He wipes what might have been a tear or fleck of dust from his right eye. "You didn't deserve any of this." He waves generally, perhaps slightly angerly. "I'm in your corner. I just want you to know that. While your Uncle is too well-connected for me to directly interfere, I'll make sure his business dealings get the higher tariff if they ever come upon my desk."
You aren't sure you'd be able to find it, given the state of the table. But it was a kind sentiment.

You aren't sure you'd be able to find it, given the state of the table. But it was a kind sentiment. Coden waves a hand dismissively. "Times are tough all over. I guess it's lucky that we managed to reconnect at a good time." Then, with his brows arched outward and a momentary genuine closed-lip smile, he adds, "Even without business, it's good to catch up. Listen, this goes both ways - we're old friends, if there's something that I can help you with, you need only let me know."
"What I do really want to know is, where did you get this meat? Is it cloud ray? It's delicious. So delicate," he says. "You know, now I'm going to have to hire a cook once I have a townhouse back in the city, after getting re-established, just so that I can have you come over for dinner some time."

"That's hardly a fresh kill. Luckily the miracles of Andropinus include wards against spoilage, rot & taint. When the opportunity presents itself, we preserve all we can... both ways, mundane and miraculous. Back to this flint you have liberated. Assuming no other correspondence, I'll have the harbor master look out for you. State your name and I'll either come down or have one of my assistants do so. As far as payment? Once we see the quantity and quality, I will have the monies disbursed from the treasury - it won't take but an afternoon. And thank you for doing your part. Balic must continue to be the shining jewel of the Tablelands. Those Draji have been a thorn in our side lately, I'd like nothing less than those Tsalaxan scum wiped from meddling this far south as well."

"Mmm, amazing how they can get all the way across the Tablelands to make our lives miserable, isn't it? As far away as Draj is, you'd think they'd have other people to harass. Well... let's see about securing Balic's regional interests. Those Tsalaxan butchers can go back to their mud flats; the Silt Estuary will remain firmly under Balic's gaze."
Coden continues the meal, chatting and catching up with his friend, reminiscing about younger days and listening to how his old companion reached a prestigious posting in the mint. Once the mean is over, he does not hesitate to give his old friend a firm hug and handshake before he's back on his way to the Cerebran for the remainder of the day.
At the Cerebran, he returns to his austere cloister to meditate and focus on his practice of the Way. Only recently he'd started to develop his telepahic abilities - very rudimentary ones, but farsensing was close to thought-reading, and he'd started to hear echoes of other peoples' thoughts when he concentrated on their minds. Continuing to further awaken his abilities was a priority.

There is no doubt communication between Coden and the other group. Coin secured; flint ready for Balic as soon as early in the morn. The evening is uneventful for the legionnaire.

Haadan would suggest that when the time comes for the exchange, he and Khuv would show up with 100# of each type for examination and pricing. Once a price is determined, either we wormhole the rest in or HurK brings us the other 1000# of flint.

Coden receives the expected mindlink in the evening and after explaining what he's arranged, he hears Haadan's suggestion and replies.
<I agree. I trust my friend, but this is the city bureaucracy we're talking about. If some higher-ranking templar decides to throw a wrench in the works they might just try to confiscate everything "in civic interest." Let's not hand off our entire stash all at once - make sure we get a reasonable payout for it.>

The next morning comes. The Gambit is not too far from Balic's public dock and you reach it well before first light. It is not often for a craft to come in before sundown and it takes sun up before you see the harbor master about (or Coden for that matter). Samples of the flint are brought and Aloysius does indeed show to inspect the load. He has a small retinue of templars & slaves about him.
"Interesting. This white flint can be ground to make our ceramics... this reddish though. Camden! What do you make of this?"
He points at the pile with that black metal baton.
A tanned dwarven templar waddles over to the pile of rock. He grabs a piece and licks it.
"That be metallic. Weak, but maybe smeltable if powdered."
Aloysius squints in thought.
"Two thousand ceramics for the entire load. I will have you paid in gems or silver though. I might be taking a gamble on the reddish rock, but that's a small price to pay to get our mint back up to speed."
He turns to Coden.
"The market fluxes a tad depending our need to produce coin. We generally buy at 1-2 ceramics a pound. This should keep us for a month or so, maybe a bit longer if we can utilize the reddish rock. If you can broker a deal for the giants to produce solely for Balic, well, we'll see about getting you that villa and staff, brother."

HurK begins offloading the many flint sacks for Aloysius's retinue to take.
Once done he turns and looks down to Coden "Shall we?" he gestures to follow Aloysius so that they can safely retrieve their silver and/or gems...

Haadan looks to Laahk and smiles <Am I to maximize short-term profits or long-term gains friend?>
Laakh, at the helm abovedeck, or if belowdeck, relays his reply via Abez/elf crew: to Haadan: "Long term." To Mahalat: "Good business with you sir." (To Huurk and the party) "Are we good?" To Mahalat: "One moment, if you please." (He pings each team member one by one) 'Now do we berth the Gambit in Balic or back at Ledo? Don't want to incur docking fees and spying eyes. Falmon just dealt with a spy from Tslaxa, so they are here. Assume they see us now. Agree with Abez all hands sail north to Nibenay and 'port in to my Shom contact, we cannot just pop in unvetted into Nibenay."

Don't want to keep these guys waiting." OoC: we're already in Balic at the docs dropping off our flint sacks

Docking fees are minimal. What's a few ceramic to what you're pulling in?

"...yes, full alert at Ledo. Assume Berg is compromised. Assume Silt runners try something. Sober Druuso up and keep him away from the liquor. We are at war, so full war status. And Abez, my old contact- We will not abandon you again. Caym was a brief but honorable friend. Will you steel up and avenge your captain?"

"Just cut me in on the profits, bud, and I'll keep steering ship. Thanks for understandin' where I be coming from." Abez replies.

Coden nods to Aloysius and says, "I'm glad that this business worked out for both of us. You going to keep needing more flint?"
Once the operation is finished he says to his companions, "Aloysius is going to pull some strings and get the bounty called off of the Ledo giants - as long as they cooperate with us. Hopefully that will help to smooth matters a bit."
