Andras nods slowly.
"This is a bit more blunt than I'm accustomed to. Block the door."
He closes his eyes and releases a deep breath.
"I do not usually use this divination... it is simply too expensive and it consumes gems. I am no jewel merchant."
Andras waves to the books.
"I have a cheaper solution, more to my interests in fact. A divination that tells me of the history of an item, mundane or magical."
He rattles off a list of services. You can decide if, what and when.
100 silvers for Identify. One a day. Available beginning tomorrow.
12 silvers for Know History. Two available today; more on the morrow.
10 silvers for Mending, Read Magic or Detect Magic. Available once today or more tomorrow.
Any items will need to be left with Andras and divinations will be done somewhere private and alone. He will meet later, perhaps at the Wine Shop next door with results.
There is also a 60 silver minimum fee for shutting down his business for the required time, dinner, wine, etc... this is Laahk's fee for using the contact.

He may even refund us some of the silver if we offer to give him the 2 urns once we finally come to grips with the FULL history or these two guys once all is said and done. Just make sure to let him know to keep them wrapped in the webbing as there are prying eyes looking for them.]

Nial replies to Hurk.
"A blade that big? Mekillot bone should do... might take a few days to source a proper piece. Probably about ten, maybe seventeen days of work... but I wouldn't be able to do much else. It'd be different, that's for sure."
Belial looks a tad sceptical.
"How much would you pay for such a thing? We have other commissions to fill... I might be able to hire another hand, but the price would need to be right."

He sheaths his own sword and looks around for prying ears then lowers his voice "I have silver enough but sometimes coin can't buy everything. Do you barter services? I am trained in the way and can move and lift extraordinary large and heavy items, ships even. Or could dig massive ditches for a moat or crops as well. If you or someone you know needs something heavy moved or lifted I can help the town with that. On a smaller scale I can magnetize a metal object as well as heat, burn then melt anything I set my mind to, even granite and hard forged steel."

Nial laughs.
"If that's true, perhaps the commissions can wait. I bet the garrison would pay to have all the old rock cleared and put into one place, either to bolster the current wall or raise another."
After the brief look Hurk had of the surrounding area - that could take a lot of time (perhaps as long as it took to fashion such a weapon), a lot of bending over and if he got as big as he did before... well, there would be stories, that's for sure.

"Begin the work. What is the leader of the garrison's name and where do I find him?" HurK asks.
Once the info is given, HurK bows then seeks out the leader

"There's Governor Arisphistaneles and the Captain of the Guard, Tellemon who would need to be behind you. Arisphistaneles would be the proper first choice, as he could simply tell Tellemon to advise you. Either way, the governor might be found at his home and Tellemon is either at the barracks or about his work."

Door blocked per Andras's guidance. "Any other entrances?"
"Sorry, no time to bandy words. How about we start with the 60 to cover your operations, three Know History on the datchi club, gythka, and knife. Open to barteringor selling the gythka depending on the results... and a Mending and perhaps much more on something I would value your private council with,"
He is whispering now, an operative to another agent. He is breathing through his nose, senses on high alert, standing relaxed. To an observer they could be debating over the quality of swordgrass parchment versus basaz-leaf scrolls.
"I don't overspeak when I say profound news, and matching items to investigate. Someplace here in the shop with proper wardings? Highest security protocol here, my friend. I can send for more coin or just 'port to it myself." Gets out his bag, counts 18 out. "To begin, sir."

He considers, and adds:
Let's get to a sanctum first before I decide. Might have knowledge worth more than gems or coin...."

"Could we buy you dinner tonight, Someplace worth paying for privacy? Other matters to discuss, something our "friends in the market" (their code for the Veilled Alliance) needs to know about fast. We have done well in our short time together, eh Coden?" "Indeed we have," chimes in the charismatic nobleman.
"Incidentally, if we are bartering labor, I learned the crafting of weapons while working as a supply officer in the Balician military," he says. He lets that hang for a moment before he adds, "Including metalwork."

Andras is unwilling to commit to favors for his spellwork.
He can only cast Know History twice today (so pick two items to go first).
You can get a mending done today as well.
Coin will be required 50% up front. 50% upon his valuation after the spells are cast. If that's more coin than you individually carry, we can fast forward to you returning to the ship and back to take care of such trivial matters.
He can meet you in an hour's time and give you the results of those divinations, etc...
Hurk is currently locating the governor's home.

(after returning with a bag of 100 silver)
"Thank you for putting up with my indecision."
Hands over the 5 wrapped tablets:
"Tonight please run two Know History: on this set of tablets, and the datchi club; and one Mending on the 4th tablet with chiseled-off writing. Might need something to read an unknown language too. Please try to keep that webbing intact, it is dreamspider silk. same as this ridiculous protection." (pointing at his headwrap.)
Here is 60 for your time, and 17 for half of the spells, another 5 to cover Read Language if need, total 82 silvers. Let's start with that."
$$$ Running total $$$(edit if needed)
From our 1600 communal cash:
5 silver to each PC for shore leave: -25 20 to Yiska for elf bizness 20 to Laakh for bribes -10 CP on Info Gathering =19, 100 to resupply, -82 to Andras, owe 17 to Andras, = will have 20 20 to Abez -2 to dock, -1 for overnight barracks for us, -6 to provision the Gambit 1 week, ("few coins" + good tip =6) = holding 11
=1,415 remaining.

"Well. This is interesting... way more interesting than the tales of those ruins north of Nibenay. I can tell you one thing - a spell of mending will most likely not repair that stone. You do not seem to have the fragments of rock that have been removed from it. But..."
He points at the one with the odd language.
"That is arcane script. For the like amount, I'll read what it is for you."
