Tellamon pulls Rizla to the side after his conversation with Hurk.
"I've heard of you, the hairy mul brawler... I have a recent group of miscreants I'd like to teach a lesson. A half dozen young gith tried to steal from some refugees in the night. We caught 'em, but they pleaded mercy and paid for their life. From what I gather you should easily be able to put them in their place, bloody their noses a bit in the arena. I'm thinking no weapons, just a savage melee of fisticuffs. Should keep everyone happy and put a message out to the gith tribes that we aren't to be reckoned with. Six-on-one odds is a great way to debut your skill, don't ya think?"
"If you're keen, meet up at the Bloodsand arena outside the walls and we'll run you the third fight in tonight."
***
Hurk begins his clean up. There is a lot of rock and stone. After the first day you've cleared a football field sized swath of earth. The guards grumble a bit. It seems that there are a number of mercenaries mixed with the Balician sponsored troop. The giant sized sword is being made in the walls, much to the wonder of the townsfolk.
***
Meanwhile, you have the town to yourselves. Additional scrying and divinations can be attempted, items purchased, conversations had. If you wanted to question the women from the wineshop, you'd find they're regulars. Other interesting gossip that you can overhear...
The Governor has lowered the rate of entry to the town ever since Kalak's death. He seems a kind man, but wary of the amount of water and supplies that a small horde of displaced folk can consume. The refugees outside the walls are treated fairly, but many can't provide the silver coin for entry into the fortress proper. Some stand outside the gates begging for work.
A caravan from Celik is expected sometime in the next few days.

Mak will wander out of the city and into the shantytown of refugees to examine their plight, see what kind of people these folks are and listen to their stories of the fall of modern Tyr-agi.

It seems that there are a number of mercenaries mixed with the Balician sponsored troop. - HurK asks the guards why they're grumbling. - He'll ask Tellamon if he wants a dry moat/trenches dug in each section once they've collected the rocks from each section. "I've got an idea once we're all done collecting the stones... It won't be pretty but it might slow down a giant advancement." The giant sized sword is being made in the walls, much to the wonder of the townsfolk.

Additional scrying and divinations can be attempted... [Bob, if HurK is inside Mak's mind with the way, can he speak to Narakasura when Mak casts Telepathy?]

HurK will also ask Andras what potion fruits or wondrous items he might have available to purchase and any possible leads on other magical or psionic weapons for sale.

I'll wait a bit for Mike and Jesse to chime in, but no, the telepathy is not a shared conduit. From the spell, affecting one creature: A priest can establish separate ”telepathic channels” to multiple individuals. Each linkage is established through a separate casting of the spell. There is no network between the channels.
Since this deals away with needing psionic combat to communicate, if you had a similar psionic ability, you would have to go through the whole mental combat to initiate your own connection.
I did take into the effect that Mak was within the range of two Tower of Iron Wills, which may or may not have discouraged the spirit to attempt an attack of his own.
Andras has no magical items for sale. If you were interested in weapons of quality, he'd tell you to talk to Belial & Co.
I will deal with any conversation with mercs & guards later tonight or after we get a reply or two from the others.

Laakh will start checking out market row with 40 silvers and 100 CP secure in his pack. Looking for:
Leather goods: a custom strap/protector for his clay light orb: a tough sliding leather "eyelid" strapped to his free hand, able to withstand a tussle, so he can open it partially for low illumination, or fully open for max light. Concealable under his long sleeves. Also proper silt goggles.
Arrows and bolts: 20 steel or iron light crossbow bolts. Any 'special' bolts for 'special targets'?
Melee weapons: Browse and inquire about enchanted weapons. Will have Mak alongside to run Detect Magic if allowed or other vetting method approved by the shopkeeper. Will offer an Object Reading as part of haggling on any wrist razor or dagger advertised as enchanted or empowered. Open to Object Reading anything for coin if no special weapons available.
Clothing and footwear: a new, generic travelers tunic, not completely Balican or local, with at least one pocket. Sailor's gear, especially things he would not have seen among the elf crew. Bring along Haske, Yiska, or new elf crew for their advice on gearing up for extended silt travel.
Tattoo shop: Maybe Coden also interested? inquire price on a human-sized eye on the back of his scalp, after shaving bald. "I've heard stories about special tattoos which channel powers of the Way. Many of my gifts are vision-focused..."
Wine shop: purchase the largest tun of good wine in the shop, like a growler of beer for a giant. This will be his gift to Yaz whenever they return, if he needs to buy her a favor, but also just because. Something she likely has never tasted.
With Abez: Weapon shop or buy local sailors a drink in the wineshop and ask about outfitting the Gambit with a bow-mounted scorpion. Ask Abez about tradeoff of reduced cargo weight vs survivability, or potential income to hire us out as a visibly armed escort gunboat. Ask the old timers about various silt beasts and how to best outfit a boat for battle.

HurK will buy 3 large soft blankets and trade them out for his clothes that are currently wrapped around the webbed Urns and Tablet set within his pack.

I don't think Coden has much to do here. Still only have a little cash, so he's mostly bored, pacing around the settlement (once he's done using his psionic abilities to investigate the urns, as previously directed, though that might be redundant now that we have an idea of what's inside of them).

Jesse:
We have the collective 1500 -ish silver. Just saying. Might not get another change to kit out for a while. Laakh grew up po' so this is his first time in a market with a bit to play with...

[Mak had no hand in earning it so has no claim on those funds. Spend it as you see fit, though if we could hire one of the Veiled Wizards to assist with the Psurlon threat, that would be a good use of coin.] Mak is happy to assist with divinations for anyone's shopping but otherwise will be interacting with the refugees.

Yes. You are loaded and Coden was instrumental in gaining a proper price for the flint (if he felt guilty for not having a hand in the skimmer sale). You are effectively a partnership... and if Mak pressed, he did do several divinations already for the party - look to see what Andras charged and it might make you not need to game these things out so perfectly. Oh. I wanted to say that Bankhuv is not entirely attached to the dagger and would let another use it if need be. He would mention that he has stabbed a dream spider in the back, so he would continue to keep that in mind in a fight.

Oh. I only knew about the handout of like... five silver pieces, of which one was immediately turned around to pay for amenities.
But I don't have any expensive needs. Coden's already got the best armor and weapons that he can get for now. (You can't get a "metal spear" in DARK SUN; it doesn't rely on material quality.) His main monetary need will be when he goes back home and has to bribe people, buy a townhouse, etc., which is gonna be way more expensive.
I guess he could split time between meeting people in the town, and staying in his room practicing his psionic meditations.

might get pricey but I dig it.
Maybe arrange for a VA operative to meet us in S Ledo or at a port stop somewhere in between?
Laakh will ask Andras what this would cost, more importantly, what does Andras think of the psurlon threat, buying him another good meal to grease the wheels.
Let's also see what the Celik caravan brings....

(OOC: Work has been beating my ass)
At mention of an arena, Rizla will look to Khuv for permission to participate. If granted, Rizla will head immediately there and observe any competitions while awaiting his turn.
