Laakh paces alongside Coden. As they continue, he starts affecting his gait and accent to that of a Balican lowlife city-slicker from the wrong side of the tracks, all furtive glances and fast hands, incongruous in the elegant finery draping him:

"Y'see now master Petrus, I'm gonna poke around where youse aint welcome, an' in me own rags, askin' all the right questions. We get things done in our way, innit?"  (OOC: I don't know why Balican street talk is Brooklyn mixed with 1880's London but hey...)

The next words coming out of his mouth are measured and spoken with languid confidence with shoulders squared and the easy stride of a nobleman out on a stroll:

"And with the strength of my family's 251-year partnership with House Tomblador, my inquiries among the royal gardens shall by all means identify the perpetrators of these foul deeds, thence bringing those guilty to fair yet final justice, and restore the purity of House Rokos, my good man!"

Victory walks alongside Coden on the other side (between Coden and Petrus) and addresses Petrus once Laakh is finished speaking.  "I can see you're scared *glances at both riders then at Petrus' hand resting on his short sword* but you've no need to be, no one or nothing will hurt you while I am here and you can thank Master Coden for that introduction now kindly wipe that sneer off your face before you start something that I need to save you from. "

HurK rubs his temples with his meaty right hand while he rolls his eyes then quickly interjects "No one is a damsel here VICTORY... Or scared for that matter, just cautious. We all want the same thing. And we're going to help each other find these killers.

Petrus speaks.

"My father has dealings with many Patricians on a daily basis. He *is* on the council. Whoever committed this atrocity and affront on our name will be found eventually. Just hope it isn't one of your allies, Coden."

"Or I'll have your head."

It does not take long for you to be re-introduced to the couple that manages the Roko's offices in the city proper.

So far, you've been away from the Gambit for a bit, managed to forget the psurlons and Nibenay's son for a tad...

But you're sure these things will eventually catch up to you.

Hurk nods to the couple. "Well met again Jen. Can you direct me to giant lodging near the ovens?"

Once everyone settles and there is opportunity to speak unobserved by others Mak will speak up.

"We need to talk this over. We've already made enemies with regard to Nibenay, we can't afford to do the same in Balic. I suggest those who have the capacity to make discreet inquiry do so. We single out either the Tarek or the Dwarf and capture them without leaving any trace. Bend their minds to reveal the identity of their master, kill them and dispose of their bodies. Once this is accomplished, I wish for us to stop there. Give the information to Coden's Uncle and let him exact his revenge on his own terms. I think it's important that we limit our exposure to this feud as much as possible."

Settled in HurK's private, locked room, Clairvoyance on the building entrance looking out from 10 feet up, and a good look of the room's windows and exit/s.
Laakh listens intently while Mak talks.

"Ok this is how I see it: Discrete Inquiry, check. Tarek haunts in town, check. Kill them? In defense as last resort only. LOW PROFILE, right? Dig around, share some drinks with unsavory types, then clean up nice, mingle among the vipers who run the show uptown. Either way we find our targets, return them alive for Rokos justice and better standing for Coden. I am with you on limiting our exposure here to maximum. If we go down that other road, there's no flashy arena fists or Goliath action. Victory, this is where you need to learn quick and casual then disappear into the crowd nobody see nuthin' strikes. Any local festivals coming up? And I know you can do this. HurK, same. We can incapacitate, distract, and 'port out in pairs back to the estate with our targets." Back on the Gambit by dawn."

Chances are I'd probably destroy too many buildings at that size anyway and then be reduced to a pile of ash by every Balican templar here in a matter of minutes... On the flip side, besides mentally stunning a target, I CAN put someone to sleep if necessary..." he shrugs

"This might become more complicated," says Coden. "This wasn't just a mugging turned into a murder. Presumably someone hired this group of miscreants to do this deed, but that may mean they have other plans for the rest of my family. Once we've probed them for information we'll have more follow-up work to do. I do agree with keeping as low a profile as possible, especially because if these people were sent by a patrician, we don't want to become templar-bait."

On the flip side, besides mentally stunning a target, I CAN put someone to sleep if necessary..." he shrugs

Do we want to have Laakh and Khuv use their Information gathering skill coupled with our +2 Int/Cha Joz'hal skull to get some possible intel on this Tarek, male Dwarf and hooded steel rod wielder trio?]

[Yep, Khuv and I can go out for this with at least 1 other shadowing us for backup. Just need current time of day and others to second. Might be better during evening hours. Others not involved can plan Rokos or other path of inquiry?]

OOC: Gimme a few rolls for information gathering then as the rest of you stay put? There is room by the ovens to sleep as I mentioned initially - but Hurk will probably want to keep his more valued possessions with the rest of you in the offices.

Also, any communication you wish with anyone psionically between then?

[Victory will shadow Masters Khuv and Laahk.  He will practice his nonchalance act while trying to remain within 30 paces.  Any trouble comes their way, he'll blindside their assailants with crippling/killing intentions.  Someone else choose if we're handling a live interrogation or another corpse interrogation and Victory will deliver.]
