The week goes quickly. The weather holds... if a bit windy and hauntingly hot. Much training and discussion is made. The newer recruits begin to discuss their capabilities and are brought into the fold properly.
Yiska seems to be concerned about her brother. The elf shows interest in the singing sticks that Kem uses and the gladiatrix begins to show her the ins and outs of the unique weapons.
The elf will show anyone interested in longsword or longbow how to use them properly... (as a fighter with specialization, so one weapon may be taught to a group of you as a free proficiency if you do not have it already).
Kri-kcht finishes his bolas. They are serviceable. He practices during the hunts over the week (Remie if you have an open slot, feel free to take bolas as a slot).
Contact is successfully taught to those that wish to learn it. Finding one's nexus is not that hard once one knows the tricks to focus, breathe and visualize properly. It does take the majority of the week to be able to call upon the proper mental state on demand.
For those of you with teaching? You can teach one skill this week. Make your rolls on the site to see if you successfully teach a skill. Anyone learning needs to respond with a successful intelligence check. If it happens? Go ahead and mark it on your sheets.
You are unbothered by the undead proctors until the day you decide to leave.
At the seventh day, Shardivan will give you the go ahead...
...distractions have been made. Dote Mal has been last seen far to the north, beyond Urik. In the Glowing Desert. It is suggested that you visit the bandit towns that eek out life there and see if a trail can be picked up.
Kri-kcht has actually been there before. Whether or not he wants to discuss it.

HurK learns Longsword ------------------------- Pulling Dru and Khuv aside, away from the others. "Look, I know you probably have plans within plans while we're gone but... don't! Just don't. While you may be able to get away with treasures or even just your lives, you WILL be putting the rest of us in jeopardy. So, we good then?" Hurk asks

Laakh replies:
<before we sign off, did you say something about reinforcements coming our way? We depart after some last planning.>
Laakh repeats the conversation to the team. He has one open NWP slot so hoping to learn riding, animal handling, or bargain.
"Did we not hear him offer reinforcements back a ways? Glowing Desert, eh. As long as it aint that creepshow light pouring out with the nightly dead dance..."

Kleys will teach the Teaching skill to everyone who does not already posses it (Cha -1, rolled a 1!).
(OoC: Does anyone else have the Teaching NWP or is specialized? - I'd like to be learning some skills while I'm teaching.)
PS: (Is there an upper limit to the number of NWP's we can lear at one time? Is it just limited by the number of teachers?)

- During the week, Kem's training in Contact and Literacy plus her own teaching towards Yishka in the use of the singing sticks is mostly the routine followed during the week. It seems that Kem has more in common with Yishka than initially expected, as they talk during training breaks.
[OOC: I have the Teaching skill too. I rolled a successful 6 in it! I failed my learning of Literacy, it's something that requires lot of patience for someone used to fight, at least at this moment. If it wasn't because as Gladiator I have proficiency in all weapons, I might be inclined to learn longbow]

((Mak learns Contact. He spends the rest of his time providing food and water for the crew and communing with the local land to become more familiar with the area.))
Mak speaks up as they are discussing plans to leave. "I can port us to the scrub plains just to the west of the Glowing Desert. I'm not as familiar with the desert but I imagine we'll be traveling across it's dunes for some time before interacting with any of the tribes Shardivan spoke of. When we are all gathered and ready to leave, I will open the portal."
Mak packs his gear and gets his Pterrax ready for travel.

Reinforcements? He's spoken of regaining his position and renewing allies but unless I'm mistaken, Shardivan never promised bodies (Disclaimer: if you can find contradiction to this, I occasionally post late at night or after a few... I might be inclined to change my stance).
If you want additional hands, hired or other? You could see if any of your new party members has friends that the rest of you could begin to trust.
Like maybe in Urik? It's on the way. Asking Shardivan if he knows anyone in a specific location might net you a few leads as well.
You'll also want to figure out if you want mounts, transport or additional supplies now that you won't be carting about a ship full of food and water.
Khuv and the elves nod in agreement to Hurk. You aren't sure if it's really convincing or they just want to avoid being lambasted by the goliath.

[OOC: Last call: anyone have land-based riding or animal handling for my open NWP?
I'm suggesting 2 'port options before the big one to Glowing desert:
A) to Altaruk to check my Veiled Alliance contact for mounts / hired guns, shop for stuff in their markets. B) Risk a return to Balic area to my contact the kank rancher for mounts and /or leads on a bigger caravan setup for HurK such as inix]
To Shardivan:
<Ahem, on that note, we might hire some firepower. Suggestions welcome.>

Given the current options, Kleys will learn to use Wrist Razors (unless he must learn the Singing Stocks alongside Yiska from). Kem

[OOC: It's up to Bob if I can train you in either of them plus if it's possible for you to learn it, as you are a wizard and the class has weapon restrictions. I'm happy training you anyway ]

After discussing with the others, Mak agrees to open a portal to Altaruk. "Let me know when you're ready to go. Once I open the portal, everyone needs to move through it in a timely fashion, it doesn't stay open for long."
When they are ready, Mak will gather them together so they can move quickly and in an orderly fashion. Then he will open the portal to the area around Altaruk's new well, surrounded by apple trees. The portal is a 10' diameter circle, and Mak immediately steps through it to the Altaruk area.
((Dimensional Folding, Lv. 4 Priest Spell Compendium. Percentile roll: 33, no mishap. The portal remains open for 1 full round after the casting.))

The half giant points out "We can leave the provisions in the ship for those staying behind. We can fill up at the spring and Mak can create food for us if needed."

One last bit of housekeeping before departing: Laakh asks someone to join him belowdecks to the psionic helm. "Tap me awake after a minute, slap me out if you need to."
<Lilim, we leave you under Abez's 2nd in command Khuv, with crewmen Druuso and Haske in temporary custody of Bodach's Lawkeepers. We leave you in secure and guarded lands and will return with adventures from the north. You may be investigated by ancient minds. We are in a treaty with them so rest easy, and defend however you can if treaty is breached. I will call out to you as I can. If I do not return, it was a pleasure.>
Good to go!
