Took nearly a week, but I got past the Blue Screen of Death. +16000 XP, leveled up!
I would like to shout out to Windows Support (for not helping at all and putting me on hold for 3 hours and then refusing to call me or provide anything that vaguely resembled support).
I would also like to thank myself, for being stubborn enough to try every trick possible to get past said blue screen and reinstall, like everything.
A nod to my lovely wife, who if I had not been able to fix said issue would probably begrudgingly shopped for another computer with me this weekend.
Game on.

Well kinda back. I've been on a reading binge in between an odd weekend.
I don't know if you all are familiar with the Dresden Files series. I enjoy the books. They're very pulpy; easy reads. Urban magic, modern... very Mage the Awakening.
The author is an odd cat. Anti-vaxx... but more for the covid pandemic than anything else.
Some of his more recent writing directly brought up H.P. Lovecraft in a very odd neutral sort of way (he, the author is very aware of current controversies). Jim Butcher's work is so very derivative of multiple sources, historically and culturally (albeit in a very campy way). I'm a chef by trade. I understand borrowing things as inspiration. But there's a general feel that this series isn't going to age well.
Mind ya, I'm a fan of Lovecraft and his protégés writing. And Conan. And, well, fantasy in general. But Butcher seems to throw the sign of the fig into the air and hopes that he'll eek out the last few books in his series before anyone calls him out on it and any controversy he's deliberately starting.
