The psion touches the rug to ascertain it's past.
And succeeds. A memory washes over him...
Race: Human Sex: M Age 3,564 Alignment: LE/N How gained/lost: He owns it. Previous owners: He created it.
And that's all it takes for the thing, the very rug, to envelop the concentrating psion. It lashes out, rolls around Laahk and begins tightly squeezing the man in front of the rest of you. Dust rises in plumes. Coughing. Choking.
What shall you do?

"SHIT! PHASE OUT OF IT LAAKH!" Not waiting for a reply, the Psiologist drops her blade as she grabs an edge of the rug, slams her feet on the corner then uses all her strength to open and unroll it... [Break Doors: 17 (10), rolled 18 Lift Gates: 60%, rolled 88% -36 PsP's]"It's... TOO... STRONG!!!" SHE BELTS OUT BETWEEN HER GRINDING TEETH, UNABLE TO OPEN THE RUG

Dispel Magic on the rug (rolled an 18).
If that fails, try and suppress it as a "Trap" (Traps: 80/65%).

"Is it a cursed item or a creature?" says Pallia.

Mak will cast a Remove Curse spell over the carpet covered Laakh. "Anyone got any other ideas?"

Teleport to empty solid ground behind and 10 feet from the rug: Score 19, rolled 15. -10 PSPs. Unless something prevents, he's unrugged.

That'll do it.
You pop out away from the rug... which simply drops back to the ground, inert.
You swear you hear distant laughter. After a 3 count it fades. Almost sounds like it comes from beyond the back wall.

"Anyone have a spell or something that will detect illusions? Like, perhaps, a wall that might not be real?"

Mak points to the door in the wall. "Or maybe he's through there."
((Bob, divination on the symbol on the door?))

"The wall itself didn't detect as magical, just the 'door'. But...."
Kleys will walk over to the wall (not the door) and touch the wall.

Teleport to empty solid ground behind and 10 feet from the rug "Whew, nice work buddy..."
HurK grabs and stows her blade "This could be a neat trap if I could throw it at someone..."Always the experimenter, HurK goes behind the west bed, lifts it up then moves to just the edge of the rug (NOT stepping on it) and carefully sets it in the middle of the rug to see what happens...

"What is the purpose and function of this magic on the door?" Posits Mak.
"To kill or weaken those who touch it." Is the rumbling response.
Hurk rearranges furniture to no apparent effect. The bed simply sits there over the rug.

Mak looks at the bed on the rug. "You just made that trap even worse. Now if someone sleeps in that bed they will never wake."
"Also, no one touch that door."
Mak casts dispel magic on the glyph on the door.
((Dispel Roll: 6))
"On second thought, maybe we should just light the whole door on fire..."

The dispel works, the rune fades.
Now to either figure out how to open the thing...
Or simply batter it down.
