A quick welcome to John, who will be joining us eventually in the Celik game. He hails from the Dark Sun Arena forums and is a friend of Jack's. Hiya everyone. I’ll make a more nice intro post soonish about myself and the character I’ll be playing. Love the mood you’ve managed to set together so far!

So finally, here's the introduction. I'm John, I'm married, 42 y/o and live in Tilburg, in the Netherlands. I work as a lecturer/teacher/coach (pick one) at a university of applied sciences, specialising in ethics, creativity and the (mis)use of data in marketing.
I've been playing AD&D (2E) since the early 90s. For quite a long time this has been with roughly the same offline group since 1998 playing a diversity of homebrew setups within a Planescape multiverse; we stopped with 2E in 2013, shortly switching to 3.5E during which I had other things in life that were taking time. When I got back a year later we had switched to Pathfinder. It was powerplay madness if you ask me, I had a really hard time adjusting to the system but we stuck with that until 5E came out. We instantly switched to 5E and have not looked back. But alas, I have not played much Dark Sun ever, and nothing since 1997 when I GM'd for a group of high school friends who managed to get the party TPK'd in 4 sessions. You can understand why I am glad to join this campaign.
I like reading, writing, and when I do find the extra time I still try to make music every now and then. Nuff about me, let's segue into the character intro...

Background: Quila is a half-elf chronicler. She investigates history and lore, and makes sure to record, erm remember, current events so as to pass this knowledge on to future generations. She has recently heard of Celik's further opening up for business, coming down from Tyr looking for opportunity herself.
Behavior: Being a chronicler, Quila is driven to understand. She seeks knowledge and wisdom that is often lost to the ages. Knowing that the world is filled with such hidden and lost nuggets, she tends to have a curious and inquisitive demeanor. However, she is also emotionally stable—it takes a lot to really upset her. She is somewhat optimistic and tends to be trustful to comrades easily as long as they share the conscientious and industrious mindset of the explorer. As such, she can come across as somewhat spontaneous and even flighty on occasion; it doesn’t help that she talks a lot about herself and her discoveries still to be made. Has she told you the tale of Amara and the Orphic Flower? Or the legend of Kalid-Ma? Or about several mighty towers across the Tablelands from which great wars were fought centuries ago? Although she is impulsive, she is brave and will fight if she feels her cause is necessary and just. And she isn’t interested in tradition or the powers that be—she goes her own way and keeps and expects from others an open-mind.
Mechanics: Quila is a half-elf "priest" (=templar) 2/psionicist 2. She has minor healing and buffing magic, and some telepathic and clairsentient powers that help her out with her research and historian work. She has nwps in academic and historical subjects and knows how to spin a tale or two. Additionally she can both work with jewelry and tailoring. "No need for historians to be stuffy," as she often remarks. In relation to her skills, Celik is obviously interesting on both fronts. There's enough history, but also opportunity to open up for business: everyone needs clothes and everyone wants to impress someone. She does not advertise her priestly calling from the get go with everyone, and rather talks about astrology, the merits of teaching, local history, and memory techniques across races used to preserve their stories and songs.
