Mak ascends the strange smaller niche stairs.

Hurk still has 3 rounds of wheezing.

Mak gets as far as parallel with the odd astronomical structure. From here he can see rods, white and similar in size and shape to those held by the defiling duo, struck through each orb of the heavens. He cannot reach them easily. If he takes some time? He'll see at least four, maybe more missing... holes are here and there. This contraption does not reach the ceiling of the tower. That is beyond in the dark.

Laahk feels he is being watched.

Mak will remove his stone of continual light from his pouch and use it to continue exploring up the stairs. He makes a mental note to himself that the 4 rods will need to be returned to the orrery before they leave this place.

Map is set up. Group is using the dias as a barricade/cover, Kri is on over watch at the door, Mak is up investigating balls and sticks.

Those niche steps stop shortly past the stellar contraption, well before the ceiling.

Mak will search the area at the top of the steps or see if there is a path over the top of the stellar contraption. He will take a moment to incant a basic divination to aid in his search. He'll try to keep an eye on his allies below as well, waiting for Hurk to catch his breath.

((Mak casts Detect Magic, Lv.1 and then searches his surroundings for a doorway or path other than back down the stairs.))

Pallia idly taps the war staff in the dust, just to see if the "strange quiet" is magical suppression of sound.

Laakh sees Pallia test for audio, and mentions the 3 new pings, range and quantity.

Pallia does indeed feel there is a suppression of noise.

Mak, having detected nothing, may begin to descend. (Unsure of the range on Nap.)

Hurk has caught his breath. His ear falls off just as he can focus. Half his face looks rotten; corpse-like.

He scoops up his three weapons and walks over to Kri at the main door to see the three entities Laakh picked up psionically.
