Attilius, Skrye [AC3; 48/48HP], and 1 more like this

Over the nearly two month long hiatus, Coden learns much of New Kurn's different systems of farming. One thing that they have less to deal with in comparison to Balic is a near absence of silt. While on occasion high strong winds can carry the grey matter this far to the west, it is a rarity and not a common occurrence. While more moisture hits the west side of the mounts where the birdmen and women roost, the ground water here is greater in quantity... as long as one digs deep enough. Unlike some places where moisture is feebly pulled from the air or condensed, Kurn uses rainwater recollection from the building rooftops into large urns to supplement that pulled from the earth.
Fields are composted, with a mix of brown, green, fecal scraps and vegetal waste and turned weekly with large wooden forks. Tillage is not a thing, unlike in Tyr or Balic. The earth is direct planting, with a heavy rotation except where the grapes and larger fruit trees are concerned. The philosophy being that to disturb the ground too much can be detrimental to the health of the soil itself. Wood shavings, plant scraps and even dried grasses are used to hold as much water to the dirt as possible. Diseased plants are treated by templars and clerics as much of the same seriousness as that a sickened noble born child would receive. Old Kurn has more of a traditional approach - but the crops are different as well, with a hardier mix of faro cacti, root vegetable and shallow root plants. Oronis has blessed many patches within New Kurn, accelerated growth of food producing trees and bushes and all-in-all encourages the rest of his subjects to practice the same.
These questions eventually reach the ear of Oronis himself, who seems to take a liking to the young nobleman. One day, while examining the gravity fed irrigation system, the ruler appears, speaks and answers many questions that the warrior psion has. The conversation eventually leads to the mental block that Coden has been having in regards to rearranging his spear tip into metal. While almost complete, something seemed to be holding him back.
Nodding, the avangion reaches into Coden's psyche. After a few minutes, he furrows his brow.
"You have too many concerns with your family in Balic. Eventually you will need to cut free. While they can still be important to you, understand that you are your own person, with your own fate. When you go to rest this evening, refocus and attempt to change this into steel once more. I have cut some of the mental blocks, hopefully it is enough."
Coden finds that he is able to reattempt his task after taking the ruler's words to heart. He is successful in learning his new power.
A few days later, he is approached by Syndic, from the Black Lances. Behind him is a large half giant, one that Coden recognizes from their adventures in the ruined Black City.
"We were vetting this one," The Captain shrugs to the massive armored goliath, "for admission to the new city, when some of his tales matched the exploits we'd discussed over wine when you first joined us."
And that would be Attilicus. Hurk will have to spend his entire time in study - we will pick up on any of his other requests after a high science is attained.
