- Skrye approaches to the edge of the carpet to find the magic trap within, nodding back - "I can not find the mechanism.." - looking back at everyone

"Not that I WANT to win, but I bet Myron's under that slab just waiting to get out..." he whispers to part of the team NOT looking in the new room
"If that rug has 'guardian magik' maybe it makes the lioness statue come alive to attack when you step on the rug?"

Chat'cho attempts to determine the precise nature of the traps involved--are the chests covered in magical runes? Are the locks equipped with poison needles? She looks closely and trusts her keen eyesight.

You're no thief, but looking closer it appears that all the chests seem piled on the rug haphazardly.
You cannot be sure if this is one or multiple traps, but there seems to be a connection between the two.
The terra cotta lioness does not radiate magic, so that seems to shoot down Attilius' theory.
One last detail that I missed before, was that the chained cellar double door also radiates magic. But not traps.

What school(s) do the doors radiate?
I assume that Guardian Magic is Abjuration by school?
Is it specifically the doors and not the chains or are the chains also radiating magic?

The doors themselves radiate alteration magic.
Guardian is a priest sphere. It radiates as guardian.

"The doors themselves radiate transmutation, though the others detect specifically as as a guardian signature, I believe Chat'cho, Quila or Skrye would know more on this topic"

"The Guardian sphere will likely do one oxh two things--alert the owner oxh this *lace to our *resence or cast a *lade *arrier or Symm*ol s*ell that will surely kill us all."

'Muiko speaks the arcane syllables as the air fills with chalk motes and the sounds of scribbles accompanied by the taste of gum Arabic and the tactile sensation of grease paint on their hands for everyone.
Dispel Magic (targeting the guardian effect specifically) rolled a 20
What hell did 'Muiko unleash?

(Man, I can't remember ANY of this.) Coden pauses and puts his spear and shield down so that he can rummage through his bag. "Here, this... this looks similar, no? Yeah, Aman had some undead servants wearing these."(Were those guys Sons of Kyuss, but Athasian version? I forget. Sons of Kyuss are metal AF, regardless. Maybe too metal for Dark Sun.) "Hmm, certainly similar if not totally the same. But if Aman would have undead servants, they were either undead when he got them, or Aman and possibly Myron were around far longer than when the Cleansing Wars started. Does anyone perhaps know how old Aman and Myron are? As these cultists worship a cult that was around already 12,000 years ago and certainly hasn't been seen a lot the last few centuries, heck, millennia even."
Quila thinks for a second, then adds, "But they had troubles with fire elemental worshippers of which we also found proof of life some 4,000 years old. Did you previously check how old these wooden insignia they wore are? I could do that later, it might shine some new light on the matter."

(Catching up to just before the Dispel Magic botch)
Niachi takes a good look at the old wooden disk on leather thong and sees the resemblance to the foul book and shield. He paces a tight circle, mumbles the syllables for Protection from Evil, then another short nonsense babble to start Read Magic. The traces of greasepaint and gum arabic mix with notes of black bloody metal.
"Mind if I try something?"
He asks Coden to borrow the amulet. Drapes it over his cloak, draws the hood over to shroud his face completely. Checks for any reaction.
His next action, if he still lives, is to compare this warded combination to his studied methods of barring extraplanar things.
Planes Lore: need 15, rolled 14, success.
Prot. From Evil and Read Magic: duration for both 14 rounds.
Then 'Muiko moves to do his thing so he shuffles back.

The guardian magic is dispelled upon the rug.
Out of the chests, going left to right:
#1: No trap; no magic detected
#2: No trap; no magic detected
#3: Magic and trap detected within
#4: Chest trapped. No magic detected
#5: Chest trapped. Magic detected within
Niachi reads no magic upon the medallion. The symbol is crude, but is what the other's suspected - a relief of Mak Thuum Ngatha the Nine-tongued Worm, false patron of the psurlon and other gross wiggly things.

"Third chest, tra* inside. Fourth chest, tra*ed. Xhixhth chest, tra*ed."

'Muiko enters the room and steps onto the rug with practiced confidence unwitnessed by all (except maybe Coden?), stepping before the first chest and opening the lid to examine the contents.
"Oh, come look at what I've found"
