AthasianLaborer and Quila Oris (John M.) like this

Damn. This might take a bit and due to the fluctuating cast I apologize if there's slight spoilers.
The previous campaign attempted the Tower and met Aman after a series of encounters through the large dungeon. One of those had a programmed image illusion of a masked squid man and his monster guards fighting what looked to be a younger Hamanu. The illusion covered a weak floor - which if the illusion was true, was caused by the magics that the masked man was throwing.
In another room, there was evidence of cultists that animated. These carried strange symbols of a 9 tentacled figure. They re-killed them and ventured to the bottom of the Tower where they met it's owner.
Aman was befriended somewhat, as the primary use for his dungeon was amusement. The immortal undead get bored you know. Certain snippets were learned, that Aman was the original creator of Nightmare Beasts for Rajaat the Warbringer during the start of the Cleansing. His brother, Myron, was the failed Champion sent to wipe out troll-kin from Athas. While Myron was stricken down, he was not completely killed. Aman, not wishing to permanently kill his own brother, had him entombed instead.
Other adventures ensued, and in this campaign (with a few carry over PCs and tree characters), the party attempted the tomb after gaining permission from Aman. There was rumor from Oronis himself that if the party wished to gain it's revenge on the efreetess noble Liandrin, that more flame protective oils could be found there to help their possible travel to the Elemental Fire.
The tomb itself was found to be more of a gallery and workspace for the constructs that Myron and Aman built. They were at the forefront for such magical works as they had been ordered by the Warbringer himself to find new avenues of power to further his global aspirations. Journals were found as well as heavily trapped relics of power... and a bound door leading further beneath the earth.
As these ruins hid the metropolis dead city of Tnor'morken, once the seat of trolloc power before the Cleansing.
Other relics found included Mak Thuum Ngatha's Grimoire, a bracelet of regeneration (and casts fog for some reason, that was divined to have belonged to flame cult warriors), a clay whistle of golem control, and a twisted iron stave topped with an obsidian ball that Quila now carries. Other items were found within as well, that had also added details to visitors and the like to these ruins. The party also found and slaughtered over a hundred human headed worms or larvae, which Aman had forgotten to tell them to leave alone.
The undead wizard then contacted the party and let him know his disapproval. He demanded that a Geas be cast upon their thri-kreen druidess and that the party recover more worms from a source that would meet them in the Elemental Plane of Fire. He then gave them the clue that a portal could be found somewhere in the realm of Guistenal far to the south and east. The party completed the tomb first, only to find out that the Myron was in another castle, er, the Temple nearby. It seemed that Aman still cared enough to not have his brother re-deaded (at least at this time).
The party then returned to New Kurn only to find that the grimore they removed was calling all worms, gigantic, large, small to the hidden City-State.
After a battle with these beasts, the party then returned to Aman's ruins and hid the book near the Tower...
Which is why the area is now covered in cocoons, bile and wurm feces. Good times. But before they realized this, the party traveled magically to Cromlin near Guistenal and used their elemental compass to divine a proper path to the portal to the realm of the eternal hearth. They found the Caller to be frightening, and that a strange Eater of Tongues was hunting the city ruins. After a proper battle the party followed their compass to find what was to be the portal.
They bedecked themselves in protections and began the ritual to transverse the planes and found themselves exactly where they hoped. After spotting what might be the City of Brass in the distance and experiencing some of the strange physics of the Eternal Hearth, the group found the contacts Aman had mentioned, a trio of hags and their mephit slaves. They killed all but one hag and stole the witch's tent and larvae before realizing that the mephits had gone to call the efreeti to investigate these strange intruders from the Prime.
The party then chose the proper rune to touch during their exodus, depositing them back in Guistenal. They then traveled back to New Kurn and then the ruins where you currently stand.
