Since this is the South Tablelands game, unless/until you guys build a fort, home or other such permanent edifice elsewhere, I'm considering this home base. In my other game, it's currently Urik (with the opportunity to switch to Nibenay). While occasionally I'll break up things with an encounter, most of the time I'll gloss over too much detail just to keep the game moving. I'm itching to get moving again as well. Since technically you have access to a bank (the mint), if you so wish to change your coin into gem or harder currency, we can do so. Just tell me the deets. If you opt for all gold, there might be a conversion rate and some eyebrows raised.
It also isn't impossible for you to buy other things. We don't need to RP out sundry purchases. BTW, 100 kanks is not a sundry purchase. I think you're pretty well stocked on water and food for the moment though.

It is a goal to construct a stronghold in coastal mountains, specifically those southeast of South Ledopolus

1. Yes. You are docked in Balic. That is where you agreed to drop off the flint for sale, since Coden was able to secure you a buyer within the templarate/mint. The fact you sold the two skimmers outside of town is still important, as you personally aren't seen as the buyers/sellers of stolen Tsalaxan property... at least to the first factor of surveillance.
2. But you also have not built a fortress (yet). A lot of my game revolves around how "safe" you make an area. Laahk/Alex has it right that the closer you are to the Giant Isle and the two Ledopolus' the more immediate danger you're in. He also is correct that the longer you're in town, the more a chance of (probably violent) encounters... but since you definitely *need* to find ensorcelled weapons and proceed to Nibenay, I'm doing you the favor of trying to make it a quick stop.
"Safe" areas are needed for any meditation, item crafting or possible stat increases or other long term goals.

If it wasn't clear, Coden's eventual goal is to purchase and re-establish a noble villa in Balic. Fate will probably decree otherwise!

Depends. The challenge of fleshing out Balic that much is very tempting. And now you have some capital at least... ya just got to make it so it's safe enough to enjoy it. Kof, kof, psurlons and the ones you stole the skimmers from, kof.

Kof, kof, psurlons and the ones you stole the skimmers from, kof. Are the prices in the Castle Guide in CP or GP? We might be able to swing at least a small compound, enough for the party to cohabitate at least. Probably with some space to spare. There's also the idea of upgrading the Gambit to be a mobile psionically enhanced/magically enchanted stronghold, we do have several accessible clerics (Etzli to effect winds on demand, a base from which Lilim could further Control, we never have doldrums, Sacamec to incorporate photosynthesis somehow as power for Lilim or other effects we enhance her with?), several clairsentients and psychoporters (surveillance and added decks, co-located decks, extradimensional spaces) How much would it cost to do these things? Enchantment as you run it is just currency, effort and time correct Bob? What would we all think about taking a month or two after the Nibenay exchange for "upgrades" before we smack the shit out of some Psurlons? Or is the plan to continue looking for more weapons by island hopping and dredging the Sea of Silt?

I have a separate document for Athasian construction/building prices. Find a layman in game to talk to and I'll open parts of it up for you (assuming I can find it again).
