So there's some definite benefits to a running a message board over a group (as well as some drawbacks). The #1 reason I liked Facebook was the notifications. Sure, they can get annoying, but they really do drive a game. It's also ridiculously easy to share photos, maps and the like. I've run over a half dozen PbP games on Proboards as well as played in easily the same number as a player. I think I have a pretty decent grasp on how to keep the game interesting enough to keep you checking in.
But there's on definite advantage of a message board. It's a million times easier to run things if the party splits. I simply add another folder/thread and that will be the other line of role play. Once Adrianne gets back, I will most likely do so for La'yor. This might also come up when Bankhuv's player rejoins the fold. There is a bit of player knowledge running around in the game. If there's anything I ever want to run unawares of the rest of the party - let's say one of you were compromised, far scouting, alignment switched, hopped into a random portal, mind controlled, working for Rajaat Himself (or simply stealing), we will e-mail a bit and then I'll transcribe/copy/paste into a hidden folder or on Obsidian Portal. I only say this as I don't really feel comfortable messing with permissions on the message board. I'm no programmer. I only say this now as I don't want to come up with rules on the fly in the future.
But please realize that party splitting does tend to suck. Time tends to not line up and I have to do more comic book-y transitions than I generally enjoy. I think you can probably notice by how I've treated the game so far though.
Game on.

I will say again that I am pleased to be on a forum again. I actually prefer it to facebook.
