[OOC: I nearly spit tea over my laptop this morning. I love the LG comment and rebuke. And now I've spent too much time considering the ecology of the Floater. I also did a bit of reading that contradicted Haddan's earlier post. If a psionicist fails to establish contact, he can try again the next round. Failure doesn't necessarily mean the target's mind cannot be contacted. Rather, it means the target has not been found yet. The psionicist can continue searching. Pg. 81 CPH]

Coden says angrily, "Why are we opening fire on thinking beings without trying to communicate first?!?" The half giant grunts his agreement and holds his immolation while he watches the dwarf's face as he tries to make contact...

Laakh grunts non-agreement. Does another few quick glances to his flanks and behind him, and up to the dark sky, then back to the disgusting slime vermin closing in for the kill. Ready for next initiative when needed: 4.

Well. Haddan contacts the thing...
...and it accepts. The issue is it's alien in thought. You sense slight hunger; an attraction to the light. Your bewilderment and inability to respond causes the thought to stop.
And then they simply start to leave, heading to your right (south) perhaps in search of easier prey.

The half giant breathes out a sigh of relief and begins to power down the death star within him.
He pat's his school mate, Coden on the shoulder and whispers "Nice work! Should've said something myself." And goes back to his sleeping pad on the deck.

Laakh mutters 'vile snot bastards better not come back..." He settles back to sleep a happy dream of slaughtering disgusting boneless abominations.

It is currently 3rd watch correct? How late into 3rd watch? Is the night almost over? If Haadan has had his 8, he'll stay up, trying to work out while not disturbing the others muttering to himself in Dwarven about "I refuse to be a portly king" and "How is this easy? Is he a liar or am I unpracticed?"

Relatively early into the watch 3-4 AMish - about an hour to an hour and a half to sun up.
