Laakh bows and introduces himself to the living statue.
"Welcome to our team. I am Laakh formerly of Nibenay, currently our only home is this fine vessel. (gesturing to the Gambit) We hunt, and are hunted in turn. I am a seeker, a traveler, a telepath. (noting her robes and lack of obvious weapons/armor) Your strengths, aside from a supernatural beauty, might be in ways of the mind or magic? We simply need each other. This elder and the giants have been good to us, but yes Berg, we will not be here long. We can hear of your story at supper aboard while we regroup for the next mission."
Turning to the druid, counting out on his fingers, but with soft respectful tone, thinking out loud:
"No breathable path to this underground gateway of distant and dangerous waters. An ancient ill-tempered guardian, this Mimyr Vtan. Awoken in time of great need, and at grim cost. This is the crux of your warnings, yes? Hmmm. Can we agree that these Psurlons are a 'great need' to the balance of life itself? While distant, our communes with their dead prove they are collectively mighty in mind and claw, arrogant, and seek to enslave us all."
"IF we decide to go underground, only with with your assent, what more might you tell of this guardian and sacrifices taken? That is an unusual word to use. We will depart somewhere soon to leave your folk be."

"I am a devotee of the Sun," says Pallia. She turns her startling blue eyes up toward the red orb briefly. "That which can destroy a thing... can control a thing. The sun nearly destroyed me; now, my destiny is irrevocably tied to it."
She continues to slowly sip at the water as the group continues their discussion, and pauses to say, "Did you say psurlons? They are not of this world. You seem to be involved in a dangerous venture."

The woman tries again. "My name is Pallia. What is yours?" "I go by many: Yesterday it was Red. Today it's HurK. Tomorrow? Maybe Roc or silt horror..." the half giant shrugs sincerely if not unintentionally cryptically. The giant turns to the Druid. "Master Berg', would not this Lady Vtan wish to know of the plans of the Psurlons and how they intend to use her gate for their own nefarious use? Though she may have an immense hatred towards defilers past and present, surely this new threat warrants attention? If at the very least acknowledgement?"[Not sure if Pallia has ever heard a half giant speak with so many syllables and fine sentence structure before, but there it is 🤣]

The druid can't help but laugh. "If these psurlons could handle," Snicker. "Lady Vtan, I would be incredibly surprised. While they might be able to obfuscate their presence from her for a short time? She herself is strong in the Way and incredible physical power. You see, Mimyr Vtan is a water drake. Perhaps one of the oldest left in Athas. She guards the Well that leads to the Plane of Waters itself, often preying on the creatures foolish enough to attempt to pass the breach between our world and theirs." He pauses in thought for a second. "The barrier between the worlds is perhaps... thinner where the dwarves broke through to the waters. What is known to my kind and mystics as a ley line or conjunction. Most conjunctions are home to powerful guardians, who draw their essence from the energies of two or more worlds... much like how druids such as I pull our strength from elemental spirits and smaller nexuses." At hearing "oldest water drake" HurK very Very VERY slowly, drapes his cloak over his two new handy dandy Zerka harpoons. "RIGHT! LOOKS LIKE EVERYTHING UNDER THE SAND IS HANDLED. NO NEED TO VENTURE DOWN THERE ANYMORE! YUP!" the half giant trails off "ALTHOoooUGH... if I could study her while she's sleeping..." he rubs his chin in thought of the possibilities.

The half giant becomes more serious and softer "Master Berg' if it's not too difficult to speak of, can you tell us of the situation that forced you to awaken her in your great time of need? And what... or who, did you loose that made you regret your sacrifice?"

"The road to the Grey is paved with good intentions, they say." Berg comments. Sacamec laughs. "I like that. Gonna steal that." Mak just shudders at the mention of the Grey. "No, I'd rather not deal with denizens of that wretched place anytime soon."Mak's eyes go wide as Berg says Vtan is a water Drake. Mak will wave a hand and cast a friendly smile toward her when his name is mentioned by one of the others in introduction.

In complete sync with Mak's eyes going wide, Laakh's right eyebrow lifts for a moment. When there is a window for him to speak he speaks reverently of home:
"The 'Water Naga' wraps around our Temple of War, the longest continuous carving in all of Nibenay. 152 years to complete, and after completion, no more of them came to trouble the city. Lady Djen, the Courtesan of War is known to wield a bejeweled bone quarterstaff and rides to battle in luminous aquamarine hide armor both made from Water Naga...or "drake" is the proper term? This matter needs much thought. We contemplate rousing a force of nature itself."
He waits with Hurk for Berg's answer to their mutual question of the druid's encounter with Vtan.

"Some years ago, my traveling companions and I were looking for a specific rare jewel. One that could be prepared for a certain psionic, um, resonance. My communion with the spirits of the land and oases told us of Mimyr Vtan and her hidden lair... and her treasures. We believed we might be able to trade the Queen of Drakes a headband of jewels and dreams for the singular gem we desired.
My companion and lover, Loden, as well as a few others made our way beneath the town, much as you have before. We made our way to where the dwarf-men broke through to the underground sea. Loden and I summoned the beast-drake and attempted communication."
He pauses and sheds a single tear.
"A trade was made. But Mimyr? She must have been ravenous. Who knew the last time she ate the flesh of an above grounder? Loden was snatched away. The rest of my friends dragged me away from the cursed waters screaming. After that? I refused to travel with my old companions. Our ideals did not align there after."

"I'm sorry for your loss Berg'. Thank you for the retelling of your tail." HurK says softly then turns to the group. "So, what's the plan then? We still have Dorkjump? Dootjoot? Doorknob? & Victorys two girlfriends to deal with..."
[Yes he did call him a doorknob 🤣]

"Ah. You have our sympathies, truly. A terrible sacrifice.
I best think we return to the sailor's life for now. Let the drake slumber until we can learn more of her kind. Let the Worm Bastards plot from afar until we can bring an army to their shores, or Shardivan (remember him?) calls us to battle.
We have some of their trinkets to assist us now. We have Dhojakt the Doorknob and two cilops-riding templars still out there so why not pursue the treasures of the silt, lure them to us, fight on our ground. Pallia: Any mean monsters hunting you so we can add them to our list?"
When Abez returns from refilling the water tuns, Laakh asks him what maps do we have?
"Maps would be good, yeah?"

"I am not being hunted by anything... yet... to my knowledge," says Pallia as she stands. She brushes off some dust and says, "Perhaps I can help somehow?"

"Sun priest? Like our scorched little terror here? Double the focus our foes! We need the sun's fury on our side, and healings, divinations, your hard-earned insights into our travels. You need distant adventures and interesting companions."
