Laakh holds onto the massive arm carrying him, holding the light marble up and out in front like a lantern. He turns to see the new redhaired warrior and the kreen follow, while looking for the others. He calls on his inner vision to guide their steps as they rush to Mak's aid.
Safe Path: needs 16, rolled 19. -8 PSPS.
Plan B: loads crossbow, scanning for threats.

You know what? Laahk is able to activate Safe Path. Let's chalk it up to Pallia's spell and concentration this round - whether or not that's proper or not. Take the AC and other combat bonuses. It also explains Pallia's actions this round.
The rest of you run forward, with Hurk & Laahk in the lead.
The light betrays a crazy scene.
A giant flying insect, bright blue and black colored, (a Jalath'gak - common enough) slashes at a choking woman... surrounded by Mak and his pterrax mount. The flying insect is a full 16' long. The woman? Curly short hair and a brown robe cover her form. You're pretty sure she's wearing armor or padding underneath the robes, judging from the bulk.
Mak incants and solidifies the water around him into three large floating blobs that then solidify into icy chunks and launch at the half elf. ((Hailstone, Lv.2 spell, Priest Spell Compendium. 10 yard range, Auto hit, 1d4+1 damage each, no save. 3d4+3 roll: 10 damage))
She finally coughs off the last of the spores.
The pterrax falls to the earth, thrashing.
Finally focused, she straightens. Works a crick from her neck as the giant insect tears a patch of her hair out.
She looks pretty angry and seems to be in solid contemplation.
Hurk and Laahk may act this next round. Kri-kcht and Kem will be there the round after that.

Mak stands over his fallen Pterrax and his face goes flush with anger. "I tried being nice!" he screams, the pitch of his voice cracking with emotion. With a thrust of his hand, palm open and fingers flexed like a claw, several of the grasses around him grow and twist into wicked looking spears. With a scream of rage and a flick of his wrist the spears fire from their locations towards the half elf. Those spears that miss their mark circle through the air to come back around for another strike.
((Plant Lance, 4th lv spell, Priest Spell Compendium. 3 spears that act as +2 spears thrown by the caster that do 3d4+2 damage each. Continue to attack each round for 4 rounds or until they hit. Attack Rolls (Including the +6 modifier to hit): 11 (AC 5), 17 (AC -1), 8 (AC 8) Damage: 9 + 15 (I assume 2 hit).))

Upon seeing the large bug, rider and swirling spears, HurK sets down Laakh mid stride with a bit of a backward momentum so that his friend isn't running at the same forward speed as HurK (and most likely tripping). The four armed titan flanks the rider and attempts to reach out with his mind and control her natural biorhythms... [Cause Sleep 20-2 for wakeful situation: 18, rolled 13 = success. Bob need a saving throw versus spells. -62 PsP's/-26 HP] If he feels her fail the save, he'll whisper as only a 36' titan can: "MAK DROP THE STICKS! I GOT HER ASLEEP!"

Laakh checks the scene, only the rider and her bug as threats? And magicky things happening to her. Seems under control for the moment. Time to recon. He opens up Life Detection and turns slowly for 180 scan at max 100 yd. range starting at rider's position. covering 30 degrees per round. With crossbow and light torch, appearing In Control. -2 PSPS per round for 3 round scan. One round of scanning will detect humans, demi-humans, humanoids, mammals, and monsters with eight or more hit dice. A second round of scanning will detect birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and monsters with less than eight hit dice. In either case the character gets an accurate count of the creatures.

The half elf-ess gets hit by two of the sharp, vegetal spears. Shaking her head she backs away slowly while holding up her hands, palms out.
She is still oddly silent.
Laahk senses the party, the half elf, the giant bug and the pterrax... as well as perhaps a townfolk or two that are in range of the walls proper. No other close threats.
The large flying bug does not connect with any attacks this round... is this why she's so quiet?
Pallia begins to follow Kemintiri towards the now lit battle.
The rest of you close in. Hurk's call to sleep is unsuccessful.

The titan calls out "Laakh, could be like the siblings before we healed their tongues. Join me in making contact, I'll cover us with extra mental defenses..." HurK shifts his footing slightly so that he is next to the Auditor

The thri-kreen changes his direction and runs towards the 'human' female redhead (Kem). Neutral as ever and not knowing who is friend or foe at the moment, he decides to help and protect the woman. (Nothing new for him as he has done several times before)

Laakh nods and shuts off Life Detection. With the rider in sight [distance?] he will observe and prep a mental attack or Contact to start ESP. But she seems non-threatening, so crossbow held to the side. (watching that bug)
Will calculate PSPs soon, but likely at reserves level.

Mak will release his spell over the plant spear before it impacts, spraying the half-elf with the soft grasses that it was created from.
He'll incant a divination spell over himself while tending to his Pterrax but will focus his new insight on the Half-Elf to learn more about her. ((Somatic Concealment (Dex-1) roll: 16 (right on the money!) Mind Read, Lv.2 Tome of Magic.))
To his newly arrived compatriots: "Thanks for the back-up. I guess that beastie in the village didn't put up much of a fight."

Mak's spell triggers as he gets a solid read on her thoughts. It seems you've entered during the end of a mental conversation. "...thanks, Bokum. I owe you one."It's at this time that she simply falls backward. A swirling crimson portal opens as if a hole in the earth, illuminating the dark. She falls into it as she waves a small goodbye. For those of you that have been friends of Bankhuv, you determine that this power is a wormhole. To where? Who knows. Hurk had one tangent established at this point. darksunsouthtablelands.obsidianportal.com/characters/an-unnamed-half-elven-psion

The titan let's out an audible growl "DAMN!" then takes all 4 hands and grabs the insect from the top. HurK pushes it on the ground with all his 3,600 lbs. so that it can't move, attack or open it's mouth. He'll then open his mind and begin siphoning it's life force, replenishing his own...
[Life Draining 18, rolled 2 = success, Power Manipulation 17, rolled 1 = successful power score; -78 PsP's
HurK drains 1d20 HP per round until he's healed 36 hp (10 over his max)]
He then removes anything it wasn't born with, and places it out of the insects reach, for everyone to investigate (cargo, saddle, etc). "Mak, should we kill it? Or are these things like those birds they use for sending messages? Maybe it'll return back to it's masters home? If so, we could follow it?"
---------------------
Should Mak share the final mental conversation, HurK thinks a moment if he's ever heard of any psions by that name mentioned in his studies through gossip or classes...
[Psionic Lore 19, rolled 4 = success (hopefully?)]
