Yes. Spell(s?) there be. This first round of the read magic you are able to make out one such spell. Something called Know History... a spell of the 1st Circle.

Pallia finally releases her concentration on her summoned insects, letting the bloodflies disperse.
"I am not certain of what to do next, but... with the templar escaped, she will surely bring back news of Dhojakt's death to Nibenay, and now the sorcerer-monarch will likely be hunting us in earnest."

"We need this shell. HurK, can you carry his lower body?"

HurK the taxidermist puts his monocle on while twirling his handlebar moustache... [Bob, how many Tergites are etched upon and is it easy to remove them with a blade, similar to the video?]

Laakh Mindlinks Shard, shutting off all his running powers.
rolled 7. 47 PSPs left.
<Warbringers here. Son of Nibenay dead, his team did not harm any of us. We plan interrogations on his disgusting severed head. His one templar potionfruited out, so the news will spread unless we find her first. I'm about to train their cilops. We are near raider towns, big gorge with vegetation. Assume other templar and cilops still out there among raiders. What do you suggest: continue northeast to find DMP, hide in gorge, or just write in the sand HERE WE ARE, NIBBY?>

OOC Bob: with newly learned Animal Training, what kind of rolls are needed now while the cilops is still in thrall? Basic commands so it does not kill us, use as pack animal, track it's former owners.

Well. If you plan on butchering out the Son of Nibenay? It's going to take some time.
At least an hour. In the end you'd expect to get 7' worth of spells he felt necessary to have upon him at all times.
The next spell read? Skin of Stone. 4th Circle.
That leaves what you assume is 5 more spells.

Pause.
<"You killed Dhojakt?">
Pause.
<"Well, I called it apparently (his arrival that was). Be forewarned. Any bit of the Son of Nibenay's mortal remains could be revived by the highest of the Shadow King's templars. I would not even keep his head...">
Pause.
<"Just move on. Keep moving. If you give me a solid evening? I can hunt some spiders with my kreen friends and probably get you some more dream webbing. That may buy you some time. I just need to have her mantis-ship bridge us to the aether. Contact me at sun-up if you are able.">

(OoC: Bob, how fast can I learn spells? The 2e PHB doesn't actually give a number of min/hrs that I can find.)
Certainly Klys would know if the rubbing worked, as he's be able to read it - or not, right?

The standard amount of time required to prepare a spell book is one to two days of work per spell level of the spell being entered. In Athas (and this play-by-post)? Since the spells aren't written the same, from book-to-book, I would be okay with shorthand methods of transfer. One evening per spell would be fine.
When copying spells, a character must roll to see if the character can learn the spell. No character can copy without magical aid of a spell of a level he cannot cast.
Rubbings could work if you had some 30 some odd square feet of thin paper and a pound or two of solid charcoal.
In the time your group has discussed, you can read that another spell seems to be a bolt of lightning (3rd circle) and another is a charm (1st circle). That leaves what you assume is 3 more spells. As Hurk changes, you read a 5th circle spell, teleportation. Followed by a dispelling dweomer (3rd circle) and the most interesting of the batch: a spell that was said to bring the Black closer to... even touching the Real. Also 3rd circle. Without closer examination and time? Those are the details you can make out before the read magic peters out.
Mak casts pass without trace 10' radius when you leave as well as animal friendship on the cilops.
Does Kleys insist on running if the travel is on the ground?

"I would, but time is of the essence with these spells. I'll ride."
Kleys moves as far away from the group on ScorHurK, and furiously learns the spells. (I'll make rolls and generate an order of learning when i get home tonight.)

Pick one spell for each day leading forward.
On ground, you still need to skirt the edge of the gorge. It remains the most impressively gigantic land feature of it's sort that you've ever seen. Anyone who has seen the Dragon's Bowl near Urik would feel that you could fit multiple within the expanse below you. Every once in a while, you swear you can see bits of stone ruin between thickets of wild growth.
You push to exhaustion just as another walled camp or town can be seen in the distance to your right. It doesn't seem as large as the previous two you've passed.
It is shortly before dark. Masses of birds, bats and Kes’trekel exit the now darkening gorge in intervals, small flocks. They head easterly into the dark. None seem to be focused on you.

As the scorpion finally empties his nexus of power, he takes one last jogging step then collapses into the sand chest first... HurK suddenly reverts back to his former 12' naked half giant self, face down in the sand. Everyone rolls/falls off, whether they want to or not. After several long deep breaths, he ever so slowly sits up in exhaustion to look around. "I'm... BEAT!"[PsP's: the tank is EMPTY! -26 HP]

(That leaves 1 unidentified spell yet, right? Is the 1st circle Charm spell Charm Person? I feel like i'd know, as I already KNOW Charm Person...)
(I'll start with Know History. I rolled a 67, I've got a 19 Int (95% learn rate) so I'll learn that at the end of the day/24hrs/whatever. Next, I'll start learning Touch the Black, unless there's another 1st or 2nd circle spell revealed.)
"How and when do we plan to immolate Dhojakt's corpse?"
(Kleys will indicate to Hurk - and DM Bob - which pieces of carapace contain the marking for Skin of Stone and Teleport). "I cannot learn these, YET. How long will it take to remove and store these shell segments, how difficult will they be to carry if we stack them together, and can you wrap them your silt to prevent their detection?"

"How and when do we plan to immolate Dhojakt's corpse?" "I... can... do... it... as... soon... as... oh... boy... I'm... tired..."
he holds up one finger in silence. After a few more moments: "I can immolate him... as soon... as I'm... rested."
(Kleys will indicate to Hurk - and DM Bob - which pieces of carapace contain the marking for Skin of Stone and Teleport). "I cannot learn these, YET. How long will it take to remove and store these shell segments, how difficult will they be to carry if we stack them together, and can you wrap them your silt to prevent their detection?" "Maybe an hour to remove the outer shells?" He shrugs "Yeah, with more spider silk from Elder in the morning, we can wrap 'em up. And hopefully this crazy bone staff too." he nods to the warstaff tied to his pack.
