Well, as you move the shimmering bundle, you can see a bit more of what the package was resting in. There's a smaller passage underneath, but too small for anyone but a halfling to pass. It widens after a foot or so and opens up into a larger rubble cluttered area. There's something odd though. There's some more of that webbing beyond, but also bones and a clutch of large whitish oblong things that look like giant puff ball mushrooms - perhaps a dozen.
That's when you hear the chittering.
A grey human-like woman's face with fangs and eight purple-red eyes materializes and blocks this very view. It lashes out, misses connecting with your hand...
...and then disappears.
The others hear a chittering behind them. A large, very large greenish black spider - with a similar, but male human-like head tries to bite Bankhuv. It also misses and vanishes as quickly as it could be seen.
The bodies are at least six feet - and the legs make them more like 12-15 foot in size.
[Intentions?]

HurK yanks the bundle out of the rocks while standing defensively and says outloud "if you can understand me, we only came for this, NOT YOUR CHILDREN. WE DO NOT WISH TO FIGHT...
(He turns his head slightly towards the dwarf)
Haadan please relay that with the way, in case they don't understand our common tongue."

"Dark spider!" whispers Coden. He drops into a crouch and waits for one of the spiders to appear again, hoping that he can stab it before it vanishes.

Ego Whip Damage-- Stunned (-5/-25% on all rolls and no spells above 3rd level) for 2 rounds
Thinking ahead, what appears to be the best position to place the most distance between Haadan and the spider? That will be Haadan's immediate goal next round while continuing the psionic assault.
EDIT: my dumb ass missed that daddy spider disappeared. Amend my intentions to "prepare to do the above" while standing slightly out from behind HurK with his hand (awkwardly?) on HurKette's thigh (like resting on a wall at a corner).

Seeing the male-headed spider pop out from nowhere and try to bit Khuv then disappear into the darkness, Laakh unplugs the marble for full illumination and holds it above his head to shine upwards, wristrazor blades also pointing up, hoping for a 10' circle of light. "I'll distract it!" He will attempt to Phase himself for immunity vs physical attacks:

Score 19, rolled 12. Cost 6, PSPS 87. He will wave his transparent ghostly arms about while standing still, hoping to draw an attack. Assume the light marble's output is reduced?
Phase: This power allows a psion to shift his body’s molecules into a different frequency of motion, making him ghostly and transparent to the unphased world around him. The psion can walk through solid matter; his enemy’s weapons will pass right through him, and no physical force or energy can harm him. She can be affected by other phased creatures or objects. A phased character is not affected by gravity. He can move over solid ground at his normal movement rate, over water or quicksand at one-half normal, and through solid matter at one-quarter his normal move. He moves vertically at 10 feet per round. If the character fails to maintain phasing while passing through matter, he takes 3-30 points of damage, falls into a coma for 1-6 hours, and becomes trapped in the Ethereal Plane. It is difficult to achieve contact with a phased mind. Any psionic attacks suffer a -4 penalty on their power checks, and the psion saves at +2 versus any mind-affecting magic or effects. Of course, these same penalties affect the psion’s own attacks while phased.

Round 2:
You all huddle about searching for a target to lash out at. Bankhuv vanishes. Etzli wipes poison on her blade.
Laahk phases. He can see what the others do not, two large spiders quickly maneuvering about before shifting back into the real.
One *appears* mid-leap and mid-room striking at Haadan. He gets bitten... and hard. [6 damage, I need a saving throw vs. poison -2, Mike.] This opens up the attack for Coden, Yiska and Etzli. Coden hits pretty deep near the neck and gets a chittering hiss in response. Etzli and Yiska only manage light blows - and Etzli's poison does not seem to take any immediate effect.
Haadan realizes it's an open mind. So the one mental whip misses the mark. Whether he'll be able to communicate that to the others? Make the save first.
The second spider is not to be seen by the bulk of the group. Laahk would know it is on the stairs, blocking retreat. Between Hurk and Laahk's light, the room itself is fully illuminated.
The injured spider phases back out. It looks directly at Laahk.

If the room were silent, everyone would hear HurK grinding her teeth in anger & frustration. “Andropinis damn it… Fine, you don’t want listen? We’ll DO IT the HARD way…” The half giant quickly crouches down and grabs all the egg sacks as carefully as possible then stands up over the dwarf's body, showing them in his massive hands, ready to smash into bloody pulp. He turns his head slightly to the group
“Guys stop attacking... [then turns his head back to the main room] WE ARE NOT HERE TO FIGHT. STOP ATTACKING US, LET US LEAVE OR YOUR CHILDREN DIE!”

Coden quickly switches to a defensive stance, keeping his spear back and his shield up. He concentrates and attempts to drive his mind scant seconds into the future to foresee the results of this fight.

If Michael wants to take over Yiska's rolls for now, she attacks with the long sword as if weapon mastery - not specialization. Thac0 16. 2 attacks this round if you want to use them.]
