"The chances of an earth drake below South Town is slight." The aged goatherd laughs. "You'd have a better chance to encounter a water..." He stops and pivots subjects as he shakes his head as if to refocus. "Wormthings? Who led you to Shardivan? Sorry this whole story seems a bit odd, I'm going to need more details."

"Of course. That makes all the sense in the world now... so these worm-things? They are a psionic threat then?"
The giants are beginning to pull out instruments, drums, horn and flute. The young ones start a light chant (which is still loud).
"Do they threaten our life here, our isle? That old dwarf didn't ask you to get me to help did he?"
Luckily the noise has kept any of the giants from hearing the word dwarf uttered by Berg'Mench.

"Absolutely!"The giants are beginning to pull out instruments, drums, horn and flute. The young ones start a light chant (which is still loud). "Do they threaten our life here, our isle?... "OH, most definitely! "That old dwarf didn't ask you to get me to help did he?" "No, but when he calls for us, you should join us to learn the severity of the situation from him... Do you have something you can give us to contact you with? A nature spell token that allows communication mayhaps?"

"No. I do not want to be a part of this. If that old coot needs my help he knows how to ask. Same goes for your mistress at the Cerebran."
He bellows out a word in a language that's unfamiliar to you (unless any of you understand the tongue of the Athasian giant, then message me).
The group laughs, a few backs are slapped and the music begins in earnest.
It is too loud for there to be continued conversation and the crusty old druid's eyes narrow a tad as he sits back in thought.

HurK thinks to himself "Did... did our host just insult two of the greatest minds Athas has even produced?"After dinner, HurK offers to take Lil'Mak and Rizla on a tour of the stone ship. If they accept, the half giant will take them to the ship to investigate and give it a thorough look over since Mak knew what the stone wheel contraption was and how it worked. There might be new insight shed on this odd vessel...

Laakh reads the room and gets that serious talk is done for now. Before Hurk leave he'll nudge him:
"I think our host is just old and tired and staying neutral. He's survived much longer than any of us, must be doing something right."
He sits back and enjoys the music. Will try to conclude talks before they depart in the morning with goal of agreement that Tslaxa is not the only game in town and waiting for Berg's reply about Balic and Wavir closer and more reliable. Also cheese trade can be built with trustworthy partners on Berg's terms. If Kaz is there he'll engage in chit chat, trying to get a sense of what currency she favors to build his network. And a correction:
Berg, we thank you once more for the feast. Can we offer a few silvers for your coffers? The intel we have is that a drake-sized Psurlon leads that brood below South Ledopolus. Rumors, maybe. But we have to stop them."

Berg seems like he simply needs to know you longer before he makes a solid decision regarding the sale of his cheese. You know the saying, don't put all your crodlu eggs in the same knapsack? He also seems to hold some sort of opinion of the local mindbenders. While Shardivan claimed to dislike goat's milk cheese, perhaps the taste wasn't what was so sour. The fact that he was selling the bulk to a trading house that was based out of a further distanced City-state speaks well to an apparent interest of not having the wheels or his fruit trees on the minds of the more local bastions of civilization.
He holds no interest in coin, at least currently.
The rest of the evening goes uneventfully. If there's anything specific regarding the stone ship you wish to do other than what was attempted the last time, speak now. When exactly will you attempt to pass the bridges on the Gambit?

When exactly will you attempt to pass the bridges on the Gambit? one hour BEFORE dawn (so it's still dark)

Unless a spell is used that might have a divination effect I'm not aware of, based on Mak's skills... the only thing that he knows is that it wasn't lifeshaped. Not that the rest of the party even knows what that is.
We do use the entire 2E spell list though and I haven't sorted through it personally, nor would I as the DM be prone to suggest a specific prayer or boon. If any spell attempted is not on the Dark Sun list for clerics but shows up in the Priest Compendium, you still need to let me think if it needs alteration before use.

Mak kicks the stone ship. "Made of rock. Old... but not ancient."
He turns on a heel to regard the Half-Giant with a shrug. "Without water, this won't be much use."

It is interesting (especially since it looks like it was once wood). But time and entropy; tales of water and silt, mean little when there's work to be done. Right now it's definitely an interesting story to tell the next time broy is raised...
...perhaps you can find that in Altaruk.
The wind has shifted once again, this time from the south and west. The temperature drops. Very high altitude clouds, ring-shaped can be seen obscuring the stars as you get ready to leave before the sun rises once more. In order to get to Altaruk, you need to orient more north... so it looks like the fight to steer will keep you to the east side of the estuary tongue once you pass the bridges.
This is good, for it'll put you on the deeper side of the isle with giants before reaching the trade town. Or at least that's what Abez and the elves say.
You do pass the large, dual stone constructs keeping to the deep silt as the wind picks up (currently about 25-30 mph). Dust is raised. Shadows abound.
Your captain has a look of concern on his face as the sun's first rays peek a little behind and to the right of you through the silty haze.
