Mak examines the craft as the tentacles are transported aboard. Wooden with a deep vanish, the craft has a single mast and is perhaps 35 feet long. It seems amazing that it stays nestled on the silt. When he peeks below, a man is seen in trance before a dark black orb - most likely obsidian. He sits on pillows among various stores and goods. A pair of wooden lockers are to the left of the stairs down. It looks like there's a small cabin and door to the rear.
The Tyrian Gambit begins to advance once more. The new elves are wary of Hurk, but it seems that they have weighed the benefits of having someone so powerful that they could save one from a silt horror. But they are elves of course. Power is to be mistrusted until more completely understood.
The wind is odd today. It has begun to shift more from the north-west to straight north to south.
Abez adjusts. You will probably end up approaching the south end of Ledo Isle by late afternoon.
It maybe a good place to rest for the evening, perhaps talk to the giants or Berg'mench (the druid) or even reexamine the stone ship you dredged...
Or you can simply try passing North and South Ledopolus in the evening and camp somewhere past the two dwarven cities. Your captain will suggest the southern side of the isle simply because of the wind, but is prepared to pass between the bridge at the deepest silt - and quickly at that no matter when you attempt it. Whoever is manning the helm will be asked to speed the journey at that point.

[Hurk would've taken his usual lotus position spot on the bow while meditating after expending so much of his internal energies]
Hurk votes for Ledo island: "We need to speak with 'Berg and the giants to solidify exclusive trade rights with them. We've already started the ground work..." he says

Mak will inquire about the island, the giants and this Berg'Mench individual from anyone willing to enlighten him, likely Khuv. Otherwise he'll enjoy the ride on this strange dead vessel and keep an eye on the skies.

He watches over the giant tribe's goat herd and makes delicious lemon cheese. The giant tribe greatly respects him and listens to his wisdom. For trade, they mine the flint from their mountain and use it to pass the time..." HurK looks slightly saddened at that last part.

Mak will wait to see what the others decide to do first and tag along. His Pterran will stay near the ship. If anyone brings out the contraption, visits the stone ship or goes to meet the Druid; Mak will definitely join them with great interest.
[What kind of biome is this island? How fertile is it? Does there appear to be an abundance of water or a general lack of it like the rest of Athas?]

Upon seeing the stone ship and Mak's interest, HurK will tell the halfling how he found it offshore and cleaned it out. And shows him the stone "gizmo's" they found within. "You ever seen something like this or heard about them?"darksunsouthtablelands.obsidianportal.com/items/tablet-contraptionUpon docking, HurK walks over to Ghut and greets him with a handshake (or hug, whichever he initiates first) "MY friend how have you and your family been? We need to talk to you and Berg about future trade dealings... Also are tan silt horror tentacles good for BBQing? I killed one earlier today and have its' tentacles to share."

I will upload the map to the Obsidian Portal, but imagine mountains to the west and east of the isle and a large dip/valley in the middle. On large oasis surrounded by lemon trees, giant's herb (similar to an oregano) and fertile ground about the north end of the vale. A tribe of silt runners lives in the east cave/mountain area. The giants view them as merely pests. The giants occupy the west. Some grazing animals are about, goats, crodlu, erdlu... the giants have three main caves that they live in on "their" side. The stone ship sits on the south shore. darksunsouthtablelands.obsidianportal.com/maps/123991If you talk to the others, they can fill in that the silt is deep and unstable directly across the Ledopolus' (they learned this at one point). This has caused the dwarves to focus on building the bridges to connect with Ledo Isle eventually. There is enough water here to sustain about a dozen giants, a small mixed flock and the runners (who number 50-60ish). You are unsure if the druid here supplements water with creation effects or if there's something special about the water source/water table in the area. There is also the possibility of water somewhere that the runners drink from. This has not been investigated.

Mak examines the contraption. He has a good idea of its use.
Ghut replies to Hurk, "YOU KILLED A SQUISHY? DAMN. NO TASTE TOO GOOD... BUT HUNGRY IS HUNGRY."
He scans your group, content that there's no dwarves.
"NOT ALL FRENS HERE? COME. WE COOK SQUISHY, YOU TRY."
Looks like you're having silt and turf for dinner. (quickly jots notes for silt lobsters)

Laakh disengages from the helm, exhausted from the journey. He shuffles topdeck to see us back on Ledo and smiles. Not Nibenay. he might need a few hours rest but greets the giants and introduces himself to their newcomer:
"Mak, did you say? I am Laakh, a clairvoyant traveler. Does your mount have a name, and does it bite? If you'll excuse me, manning the helm of this little wonder is taxing. I will join you all after some rest."

When shown the contraption, Mak looks over it for a moment before figuring it out. "This is for navigating. Old, but Mak can show how to use."
When Laakh speaks Mak assumes he's speaking to the Giant that is speaking to Hurk, until he begins to ask questions about the Pterrax. "Bite? Yes. Is dangerous. Won't bite when Mak is around, I... calm him." Seeing the psionicist's fatigue Mak inquires, "You need rest? Mak have good sleep trick, old halfling remedy. Wake in an hour refreshed like whole night passed peacefully."
[Mak will cast 'Nap' on Laakh if he agrees, one hour of sleep counts as 8 hours.]

Laakh nods "yeah Mak that sounds good." He adjusts his silty spiderweb helmet. Before turning back down belowdeck, he calls out to the giant axe wielder:
"It is Ghut to see you, mighty one"
A faint 4-note rimshot sounds in the winds.
"Your name sounds like 'good' and that is an honor."

Once done with the lesson, HurK hoists all the tentacles over his shoulders and brings them to the BBQ pit/area. He says his hellos to everyone as well.
