"Interesting."
There is a pause.
"Where does one begin? The First Sorcerer, the Magician, was interested in discovering new worlds. He tasked our nations with their discovery... much coin and labor was invested in piercing the veil between realities. Who were we to argue? Imagine what we could have learned."
"Something did not go as planned. We... I assume it was Rajaat's attempts that caused the obsidian to roil. Gallard perhaps knows more, but he has kept me in the dark as far as what transpired beyond the ebon."

Mak sucks in a harsh breath and waves a hand across his face and chest in a ritual of warding off a curse...
... a specific curse...
... a curse known to his people as 'Rajaats Curse' and the only known instance of that name used among his people.
Recovering his poise quickly Mak continues, "Then we are both out of our element, for you are from lands to the south and I am from... other lands as well. This place, with all these various peoples. This is new to me. I will endeavour to find you more of this knowledge you seek and work towards freeing you quickly. Other than freedom, is there anything else I can provide you while you wait?"

"I think I remember the land you come from, not that I ever visited in life. You are one of the Pure; a forest child... assuming time has not diluted the term. I will leave you with one word of advice and perhaps you are already aware."
"If you stole from Gallard, know that no illusion or trickery will save you from his gaze... assuming he still cares of our vessels and company."
A bit more laughter.
Then silence.

Mak releases the spell and looks around to his companions. He'll relay the details of their conversation.
"At the moment I feel like a child playing with a cobra in a jar. The moment she is released she may very well kill us all. We can't keep her in there forever and Nibenay's magic is sure to become more potent as time passes. With more time I may develop more of a repore with her and even strike up a bargain but there are no guarantees."
"There is magic I wish to work tomorrow on behalf of the refugees. Once that is complete, I will focus my efforts into unraveling the secrets of these two. Perhaps the governor here could help us understand the tablet, he appears to be a learned man."

The half giant opens his eyes then scoots over to lean against the Gambit's inner hull's wall "Nice work Mak, that went better than I expected... and she's right: we need to get rid of these urns sooner than later. Don't want to make ourselves an easy find for 'him'..."

[Bob, using Hurk's considerable earth moving and digging titan sizes and forms, how many days does HurK and Mak need to dig/make a super effective water well and farm land? (including primo irrigation ditches for all the crops.)]

I'll comment on that tomorrow. I have a time frame in mind, but just want one more sleep on it before rolls are made.
Also, since you had defenses up? I'll allow you to piggyback on knowing what happened in the mindscape.
As well as Laahk and Khuv if they extended protection. Commiserate.

Laakh collects his 1 gold from the betting office, happy to return to the Gambit and provide his Tower of Stone City Iron Will to Mak's delve into jar #2...
later, he retires to his corner on the boat to chew on the universe of information gleaned. His sleepless hours are spent reforming his Tower defense.. Nibenay/Gallard/1st Sorceror/Unnatural Shitbird is no longer a reference of mental protection for him. He will now envision the Tyrian Gambit as his only home and sanctuary. The urn spirits, or one of them, can be bargained with. IF we release them, it will be to pour their wrath on the rubbery shits who squirm below. He expends his psychic energy running Sensitivity to Observation until dawn.

Laakh collects his 1 gold from the betting office, happy to return to the Gambit and provide his Tower of Stone City Iron Will to Mak's delve into jar #2... he understands he has nothing new to deal with the worm bastards and is waiting for a recap. On their return to the Gambit, Rizla will approach Laakh "I once spoke to a free gladiator who told me of a 'hustle', he told me that I was hustling my opponents despite it working better if you are gambling on the bout. He said that a hustle was deceiving your opponents so that they might have larger bets placed on them. If money is something we need, we might want to consider this. Especially considering that there were already some who did not know of me, it will be easier to convince them that I am some frightening incompetent as most half-giants are in my experience". "Also, if Khuv allows, I would be glad to assist with any projects which may accelerate my training goals."

Mak stares at the urn for a few minutes. "I'ma try something..." He quickly encants a spell on himself and then encants once more while touching the vase.
After a moment he sits back with a frustrated look on his face. "These urns are quite the mystery. It will take time to unravel their secrets, time I am afraid we do not have much of."
Looking to the others he asks "When the enemy attempts their divination magics on us, does it happen during a certain part of the day? Is there any pattern to it that we've seen thus far?"

"Maybe hustle the tourists, but cut the local fixers in. We want this to be a permanent stop AND yah, another source of income works for me, but hit the fat cats, not the poor slobs betting their water's worth."
To Mak:
Quite the interview, sir. You give us much to unpack.... We've had Psionic, then magical divinations. Random I think. Tracking us from out of Balic and Ledo, around the time when Tslaxan agents assassinated a couple of templars. Then under phase spiderweb's protection, nothing I have sniffed out for almost a week now. But I don't Observe for it as much as I should. What of your divinations and security? Given that you and Hurk are working on Altaruk's ...infrastructure, ought we bring these two bottles of trouble to the governor's attention? No idea if Andras has done so, but I could present our findings in a Wide Scope Security Report, in VA-approved format, written and signed by each of us. They like that sort of approach, gets wheels turning. On another note, let's determine how long we remain here. I for one want these things hidden under more than blankets, and I met a Nibenese lady, Shom agent and assassin type. Owns the mul we saw in the capture game. She might be tracking us or just a glad noble. Ha. I believe the Celik caravan has intrigue under it's tarps but I don't want to dither here much longer.
Audience with the gov'nor sound good?"

There have been no recent divinations, prying eyes or minds that you've been aware of since the boat docking east of Nibenay, before Mak was present.
You have a feeling that any field work could go on past your time in the fortress town. But there is visible improvement.
Hurk begins excavating the other well site the following day. A few larger granite blocks have holes bored into the middle. Fragments of wood planks are found under some of the rock as well as shattered bamboo. It takes a decent amount of the day to remove enough stone and debris to locate water, muddy and perhaps 25 or 30 feet below the ground level. You think this could have been irrigation water given the evidence of possible mechanical drawing devices, now long broken and aged.
Tellamon visits after the news of water being struck. A small crowd has come to observe Hurk's work on and off the day.
Any altruistic acts can be begun earlier in the day.

"...Audience with the gov'nor sound good?" "I say we talk to Andras first. This is HIS town and if he doesn't want unwanted attention brought here, then we keep it silent. I for one want NO ONE else to know about them because the more people that know about these urns, the closer it gets to 'someone's' ears." Hurk makes the sign of a crown over his head with his fingers "What's that term Abez? Oh yeah: LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS!"

It's not so much a device, but evidence that these shards, fragments and old dry rot wood may have once been part of such things.
Someone with engineering and agriculture, time, tools and materials could probably develop their own...
But not out of this scrap.

HurK puts the large blocks with holes in them to the side for future use buts cleans out the rest of the detritus and digs deeper under Mak's guidance.
