The evening had obscured sights of epic proportion.
As the red orb lazily rises from the east, the scope of the view before you is revealed in earnest. Hundreds of feet below the cliff-side ground can be seen about an odd morning mist. Tops of some trees can be seen, small from this height. The cliffs themselves look abnormal, the reverse-plateau seems out of place. To the north, you can see more cliff face and sands beyond it at your level.
The cliff rock is all manner of hues. Darker towards the bottom with blacks, dark ochres and heavy rust colors dominant. The mid-striations are more oranges and reds. Towards the top? Paler and paler browns and yellows until it finally bleaches white... the color of the sands at your feet. It's reminiscent of an ancient explosion. Maybe this is epoch-ly the scene of a once great cataclysm? If so, where did all that earth & stone go?
You can vaguely make out the town you avoided in the distance behind you. No one has followed you that you're aware of.
Flying creatures abound though. Even further to the north and east, flocks of Kes'trekel (buzzard-like things) and a few pterrax swoop down into the mists to vanish somewhere below. Beneath the mists of the epic gorge.
There is no way to tell how big this land feature is. All that you know is it needs to either be passed or possibly investigated.

The half giant walks near the edge, places the hands behind his head and lets out a long low whistle staring at the massive display...
[Bob, Any signs of extra big nasties, flying or otherwise?]

None visible.
But like a day ago you were chasing invisible mobats.

Pallia stares down into the mists.
"So many flying hunters. That's a good sign - that and the mist. There must be water below, somewhere, heated by the sun and turned to mist like that. And other living things for them to hunt. Perhaps lizards, or insects. Something we, too, might be able to eat... once we find a way down."

"As interesting as misty jungle exploration sounds, my friends are still incarcerated and we need to get them out sooner rather than later. So I'm going to fly us over there so we can keep our eyes on the prize."
Once camp is packed up and everyone is ready to go, HurK disrobes, packs his gear and walks a bit away to make space.
"Keep your eyes open above, behind and below us. Call out anything no matter how small or minor it may look. Kri-kcht let us know if you see anything that looks familiar. "

"HurK, are you planning on flying over or around the crevasse/ jungle?"

A valid point. Perhaps a bit of discussion is in order.

- Yes, I'm intrigued with what it might be there. - Kem jumps up HurK's back, paying attention to any possible landmark within that jungle and around the area we are, in case we can return at some point and investigate. At that moment, she turns to Laahk - Could you have a good view of this area? I mean, after what I saw in Altaruk, it could be a shortcut to return in the future...

Mak pipes up. "I don't like the idea of crossing over this area. Vegetation means creatures which means predators. I'm not very familiar with this area but let's circle to the north. Salt flats should reduce the frequency of dangerous creatures."

It's about this time you notice something off. Abez is gone.
Yiska's here still, seeming oblivious to that fact as she adds to the conversation while staring into the low haze of the gorge.
"Maybe the mists will clear after morning? We might eventually get a better look if we skirt the rim."
She turns to Mak.
"I trust your ability to protect us from natural beasts... perhaps your mount could investigate solo as well?"

HurK spins around looking for the missing Abez "SHIT! NOBODY MOVE! Kri-kcht find Captain's tracks! Did he go over the edge or do you see any evidence of a flyer picking him off?"

- Kem tries to remember the last time she saw the captain - When it was the last time everyone saw him?

"LAST NIGHT..."-----------Bob, Alex asked if I could proxy his Mindlink since he's at work for a bit. Laakh reaches out with his mind to find the captain... [Mindlink 16, rolled 7 -8 PsP's if connection is made]

<"Leave me alone. I'm done with all this. The winds, the fights, the stress... I'm just done.">
That's all you get from Abez.
Kri-kcht will see tracks from camp going back the way you came.
