Chat'cho peeks in to hopefully detect any traps.

Scanning everything with detect magic.
Air fills with chalk motes and the sound of scribbles as 'Muiko casts Knock on the chest and opens it himself to investigate the contents (assuming that the lack of traps is communicated).

The empty bookrest is shaped like a huge, skeletal claw. Attilius peers around the door opening "Now that's cool! DIBS on the back scratcher! Provided it's not trapped..."

Attilius peers around the door opening "Now that's cool! DIBS on the back scratcher! Provided it's not trapped...""It is called a lectern and you'll do nothing of the sort with it!" from approximately where someone standing at the lectern would speak.

The giant looks around for the elf as he speaks invisibly "Huh, back scratchers have names? Learn sumtin' new everyday. Lek...Turn..."

The Knock spell opens both locks. The invisible wizard opens the chest to find...
A massive tome. You aren't sure what type of dark leather it's bound in. A worked nine-tongued worm adorns the face. The coloration is more faded, yellowed brown upon the worm's relief. The thing's tail becomes the strap that belts the book closed. You can feel the hair on the back of your skin prickling.
The book itself radiates magic and detects of traps.

"Great, MOAR books!" the giant rolls his eyes "We need to raid an ancient smithy brothers tomb or somthin'..." he says as he takes overwatch next to Coden "Hopefully in the fire land, they'll have great forges. AND STEEL!"

Niachi's eyes widen at the sight of the creepy tome. He blurts out rapidfire ideas in his custom:
"<Elvish: Sun-burned asses!> <Common> Top of the list for an Identify. Same motif as that shield or close enough for me, yah? We could try disbelieving its wards...
Quila and Chat'cho, what can you do to contain, identify, or protect us from such strong juju? My vote is either have Oronis teleport it direct to his secure laboratory, or we disarm it best as we can, lock it back inside and -with permission- pack the chest with whoever can take the weight. I would gladly exchange some of my weapons to bear the burden. A Dispel Magic might be a start. I will apply a Protection From Evil on whoever wants to approach it closer...
I suppose we are to find more worm-related things to offer to the demons in exchange for Amman's worms?"

Chat'cho does not really seem to care much about the book at all. "This thing is oxh the wizard's art, not mmine. I haxhe no idea what I could do to mmitigate its exhects exhen slightly. Ixh there is sommething you want mme to do, ask. Otherwise, I will wait until we moxhe on."

"Skrye, can you disarm the trap on that last door?" He asks pointing to the last trapped door

- "I can try to disarm it and yes, I could also try to discern the abilities of the book or anything else but I rather prefer that at the end of the day as it's quite an exhaustive activity" - looking at everyone
[OOC: I'll look the 'Call upon faith' spell to bonus my roll and the blessing of Oronis, are these still active?

"Niachi, let me take a closer look at the book and the chest here, oh oops," Quila says as she bumps into an invisible presence in the room, "I take it that is you 'Muiko?"Hovering above the chest with the book and looking at the lectern Quila does her thing of trying to make sense of these historical items, especially when related to those we've found so far in this hallway of rooms, and also checking to see if the worm on the book cover is anything like the shield of terror we found before. Barring any information gained from her treasure trove of knowledge, distilled from countless hours of reading in Kurn's library, Quila will also cast a Know Age to determine the age. Quila is careful not to let the tome get in contact with her skin. (OOC: obviously, it's my twice 40% chance to make sense of such items that I'm using again)

What schools radiate from the book?
Speaking from next to Niachi.
[Elven: "Such a work of art! The tooling is masterful and it radiates {Lists the school(s) it radiates}. We will surely share the knowledge contained herein on our return."]
Invisibly turning to face Quila, he continues in Elven.
[Elven: "Perhaps some artisans trained to make such things exist in Kurn? I am sure there must be with the volume of books I have seen there. I would very much be interested in learning the process myself."]

This cannot be right. The book reads as 12,555 years old.
The magics behind it? Enchantment, conjuration, transmutation...
The only thing gleaned from the historian's eye is the nine-tongued worm. Mak Thuum Ngatha. A long dead cult thought eradicated by the warrior-women of flame centuries ago.
As you mouth the name of the cult, Coden swears he's heard that name before.
Scrye is unfamiliar with the history behind the book and is free to examine the next door at her leisure.
