Gitmog adds in response to Hurk and Company, "I want to hear Coden's side to this. Before we sit with the Speaker. I have a feeling she's being mentally berated as we speak." (( Did Coden get sex-changed and I didn't notice? ))

Ha! No. Coden (He/Him) unless you wish otherwise. The Speaker is a woman. Gitmog is simply stating that he wants to hear what you thought about the actions that were taken. It's rather obvious he thinks you're the character witness. He has no clue Coden wasn't physically present during the slaughter of dwarves, the night that will forever be etched in the memories of South Ledopolus.

Coden pauses to think and then finally says, "I wasn't there personally for the slaughter. What I can vouch for is the influence of the psurlons, the fact that we seem to have stumbled into a serious band of them and that we're trying to fight them off while avoiding drawing so much attention that everyone starts targeting us. As Laakh noted, we've been scried upon off and on for a while now, and we've had various groups try to follow us and chase us down... not that uncommon on the Silt Sea when you have a skimmer, I suppose, but still."
"We've gotten ourselves into the middle of some nasty business. I'm not one for the senseless slaughter of people who aren't involved, but there seem to be... larger forces than us moving about in this whole story."

Laakh wrapped up the worm trinkets and requests someone in charge take a look.
"Master Gitmog: Coden and HurK speak truth you all need to grasp damn fast. Shapechanging psionic abominations from across the silt sea are HERE. South Ledo may be lost already. The Psurlons are using water gates to infiltrate, ascend, and slaughter whatever is not them. What is the largest source of water around here and who is fucking guarding it???"

Upon discussion of the gate, Mak pipes up. "You misunderstand the threat that comes from the gate the Psurlons have access to."
"It is a gate to the Elemental Plane of Water, something which is of great value given the rarity of water on Athas. Travel through this gate would only allow one to move from Athas to the Elemental Plane of Water, it's not a means by which the Psurlon can infiltrate sources of water scattered across Athas."
"The danger exists in that through study of this gate the Psurlon could learn how to bring even more of their numbers to this place. We're talking about an invasion the likes of which would make the infestation of South Ledopolis look like nothing at all."
"The Psurlon need to be dealt with. Since it is likely that others of their kind know of the water gate, we should attempt to close the gate or at least put it back in the hands of elemental powers that can properly defend it."

The half giant rubs his temples then chuckles. "I empathize with your enthusiasm Victor, I really do. Unfortunately it's no where near that simple nor easy. Imagine you are in a gladiatorial bout, fighting never before seen creatures, EACH with unknown capabilities AND nasty nasty tricks you have never before heard nor witnessed before... Then as you begin to close the distance to strike, your muscles seize up and are completely paralyzed, unable to act or even speak. A prisoner frozen in your own mind and body... OR you begin to feel heat layering upon heat grow within you, multiplying over and over, literally cooking you from the inside out until you are no more than a burnt ashy carcass... OR one of these creatures mentally takes over your mind AND CONTROLS your actions, only to have you turn and attack your own fighting partners?..."
HurK takes a long sigh
"My lightning fist friend, before we can close the distance to fight in this physical realm..." [he points to Victor's magical Gythka] "We will have to win, or at the very least, stalemate them in the mental and psionic realm. Only then will we even stand a chance."
The half giant pauses in troubled thought then adds
"You don't get to be 600 to 900 HUNDRED YEARS OLD by being easily attacked or subdued. These creatures are MASTERS of the Way, supremely brilliant, ridiculously durable and deserve only the utmost respect and focus when attempting to fight them."

The color drains from the mul's washed (were those freckles there before?) face "They've the King's Will like those templars did in the sewer?!? I have never known fear except for that moment. Are there ways to prevent that from happening? I do not wish to ever experience that again."

Are there ways to prevent that from happening? I do not wish to ever experience that again." The half giant nods solemnly "Good! You have an inkling of understanding of what I speak. The templars abilities pale in comparison to the power that these... 'Ssurlons' wield. The Speaker has said that the Sorcerer kings and queens have the same level of mental power and fortitude as their megapede sized lord...
But to answer your question, yes, Coden, Laakh and Khuv each know mental defenses that can protect us. The issue is that we need to be either RIGHT next to you or at least within 5 of your paces near you. And the way you sprinted and bounded from gith to gith a week ago... Well we'd be hard pressed to keep you in our mental spheres to protect you."

Laakh takes in the druid's words, nodding.
"OK so we still need to return to that huge lake and deal with it as you say. Now that Shardivan is off dealing with the dragon's armies in Tyr, we need new allies, as you say, water elemental experts. And yes, Victor, without mental guard we might not be able to extend to you, HurK is correct. You face ways to die without them touching you. Another observed ability which took HurK out of the battle: They can Banish you: Send you into a cold dark void of nothing, helpless to act, your lightning fists useless, no crowds to hear you. They could banish all of us but one, focus their attacks on the weakest, then return us to this plane when they choose. The front lines will be up here (slowly, non-threateningly gesturing to Victor's head) while the 3 special weapons we have will be an edge they might not expect. Or they may just Disintegrate them...
We need to Investigate these fuckers. I am waiting on an audience with Falmon, and we all wait the results of our patrons' reactions to our news, and the transaction of our sale. Time to know your enemy. This school must have knowledge on what we face and I am nothing if not an Investigator. Gitmog, who are the Telepathy and Unknown Beast experts here?"

"... Or they may just Disintegrate them... "Nay, the elder has said they crave and seek out magical and psionic items. They assuredly would just disintegrate US, then enjoy their new spoils of war." the half giant chuckles
