"Given the proper time and resources, a suitably-skilled psionicist could make devices that would help to protect you against the psurlons' powers," says Coden. "But we have none of those three. If we must engage them, there are really only two ways that I can think of: Lightning strikes that are so fast that they do not have time to defend, or overwhelming force, so that even with losses we are too much for them to handle."

"EVEN THEN, without a psyhoportation lock power or spell in place, they STILL could escape to fight another day..."

"I'm familiar with both of those, maybe we could exchange techniques? You could teach me how to gird my mind and I could teach you Dragon Style?" Victor says as he squares up with Coden. "If we can find a way to hide from them and not let them hide from us, we can take them by surprise.

Laakh shrugs pragmatically, "My first ask when I find experts will be "How do you surprise a 900 year old mind lord?"

"In working with beasts in the wild, I've learned methods of effectively draining the mental reserves from those who use such powers. If we can isolate and pick these creatures off one at a time we stand the best chance of survival. Sixteen at once is a death sentence."

The items are taken by Gitmog and handed off.
You are all summoned to the Speaker in one of the inner chambers of the Cerebran via a runner, interrupting Gitmog's reply.
Standing behind her to the right a dwarf in familiar armor and axe. However Shardivan's visage is that of a dwarf in his middle age, not the venerable façade you are accustomed to. He looks angry. She (the Speaker) has a vexed look upon her face.
He simply states, "You released the spirits of the Dark Plain, clearly after I told you not to? I hope you're happy with the results of over sixty of my people's lives being snuffed... how many dead psurlon did you produce?"
Gitmog looks down and replies, "I honestly think they believe their actions justified. They fathomed the ages of these monsters and it seems that year for year the death toll is even."
Iphignea adds, "But what of the undead nations? This is the first time any have been known to have spent time among mortals outside their petty fiefdoms and internal warring. Will we see a rise of Death from the South? I may need to alert the Templarate for the sake of the greater good... and they will wish to know how we came by such intel."

Mak speaks up at that last statement by Iphignea. "The spirits are bound to the Southern Lands by a pact with Borys, the Dragon, whom they rightfully fear. They have their own squabbles to focus on as well as a threat of bug type zhen on their borders. Unless there was additional action from them to prove otherwise, I do not believe them to be a continued threat to these lands."

Hurk gently pulls the 3 psurlon body wrapping bundles out for future examination (minus the head Mak has been questioning), then the wrapped tablets. He carefully unwraps the silk spider bundle and hands the tables over to the dual masters for reading. "No elder, the loss of innocent life will never make me 'happy'. But, if there is ONE good thing to come of this, we've uncovered a MASSIVE lake of fresh water under the town and are questioning 'them' for more information of their numbers and location..."

Victor says with a chuckle before getting serious. "IDK anything about any Dark Plain spirits, but I do know that even though they didn't know me, they were willing to help me without hesitation. Even not knowing me, they gave me this *twirls gythka in his right hand* so that I might be able to help kill those. *stops the twirling to point at the psurlons with the gythka* They have fed me and sheltered me and not abused me even though I have voluntarily indentured myself to them" "I give you my word, we'll be more cautious in our future pursuit of these creatures, but we can only do so if you allow us...."

"We can work on mental defenses if you like, though I'm far from an expert at psychic combat," says Coden. "I studied a little bit of Sand Stalker, but I've never had to use it in an arena setting so it's mostly a few practical pieces in case of losing a weapon."
(( Coden is already proficient in martial arts but, because he's not a warrior any more and not using the Sensei kit, he can't specialize in it. ))

Both the Speaker and Shardivan the younger laugh at the comment of fresh water and shake their heads.
"Oh, how the young make the same mistakes that we once did in our more unaligned days. Come, sit down. We have had some time to ponder these issues before your arrival." Iphignea admits.
Shardivan is the next to speak. "Did you taste that water like I once did, my little kips?..."
A slight cough, but nothing as intense as he had before his more youthful transition.
"Saline. Salt. Brackish. You are lucky you did not touch the waters, assuming it's protector still swims the dark."
Iphignea adds, "Funny that our old druidic friend didn't tell you more, but he always was such an awkward socialite. Look, we are pretty certain you meant well. There is little immediate further threat to South Ledopolus' populace - as you have noted, the psurlons will take their time before their next moves. I think you have more to fear than anyone else at this point in time."
Sigh.
"But we can't have you about town, either town really, as it seems you've drawn much unwanted attention to yourselves." She adds. "Shardivan's apprentice noted the arrival of some of Nibenay's own investigating the scene of the other night's slaughter. We are unsure if they've managed to pin down your location or identities."
Shardivan nods. "Was there anything you've learned as far as what Gallard, Nibenay, wanted or learned from the two spirits you released?"

"Nibenay was interested in the work the southern kingdoms were doing during the wars of the Green Age. Rajaat had many of them working on methods to reach out to planes beyond the elemental planes. Though they were unsuccessful, what they were doing eventually lead to a great wave of liquid obsidian covering the entire area, killing everything and raising them into unlife as a type of being called 'Zhen'. He was also interested in the dealings their king had with the Dragon named Borys. I am afraid he was successful in getting much information from these beings before they were pilfered from him."

"There's a little more information on those tablets..." HurK points to whomever is holding them
"Yes, Dhojakt, two cilpos and two slave tracking specialist templars are tracking us through Victor's scent here. We lost them near the beast head isle a bit from Altaruc."

"As I said earlier, we were pinged the minute we landed here. Then nothing. I assume they know we are here. So. While we are to remain here under this school's guard, in return for my request for psurlon knowledge among your scrolls and teachers, I offer my skills as an Auditor to help train your students of the Eye. Beats sitting around waiting. And did we get an amount on that weapon sale? Some of that can go to expense boarding Captain Abez and our crew.
A thought I've been chewing on: If they seek out powerful empowered objects, our ship would be just the thing to lure them. Could we Magnify the Gambit's orb to emanate more powerful mental energies? Dragon's teeth, everyone else on this dust ball is trying to find it."
