I should have explained the width of the entire tower last night, and I'm sorry that I did not expound.
The crenelated stone tower is easily 100' across at the top. The six foot square hatch lies dead center.
Upon lifting the stuck portal, you see the beginnings of a stone, spiral staircase some ten feet wide descending into the dark.
I assume that you'll have your continual light out at this point.
Marching order needed - goliaths and kreen need to walk solo, but the others may walk side by side.
Any other precautions before we proceed?

The large shapes from the night before could have been identified via psionics.
Very, very large, nocturnal black scorpions.

Laakh will attempt to Phase and take point. Anyone with Darkvision he wants at his side with ranged weapon to signal him non-verbally to anything. If light is needed, he will uncover his light marble to 1/4 open for a focused beam. Detect Traps, Magic and Life detection should happen once he's down another 10 feet. any other Divination spells?
Phase: need 19, rolled 13. -6 PSPs. Wrist razors come out to play. If he needs to move through anything solid, his MV rate is 1/4.

Kleys will stay in the middle of the order, using Find/Remove Traps when necessary.

Laahk would be the first to see, after ten feet down, the stairs end. A square room is seen amidst flickering, falling dust. The floor is wood, ancient and near petrified. Upon the walls, grotesque visages are seen painted upon the stone walls (all four walls). Long ugly noses, warts, ragged hair, green-grey skin and wicked looking claws. Kinda like that one monster from Pan's Labyrinth with the eyeballs in it's hands (but the eyes are proper on their faces). There are a dozen such painted 7-9' tall monsters, each with light blue gem eyes... Well, all but one of them. One is missing the eyes, but two notches in the wall show where they may have rested once. This odd one is upon the north wall. There are also 6 wooden doors, each about 8 feet tall, much larger than for normal sized folk placed about the room. Map to follow soon. darksunsouthtablelands.obsidianportal.com/maps/127554

- I could go at the front for combat and elf vision purposes, but I don't know how to research or tackle hidden traps - Kem replies to HurK and turns to Kleys, both talks are calm but also serious - I'm still new in the party but if you have this kind of skills set, these might be more useful if you are at the front with HurK or myself to cover you, as if we trigger any trap, by the time you can disarm it, it might be late - Kem makes a ponytail with her coppery hair, and uses another pot of sticky ointment, to avoid loosing Hurk's club in a future combat down below

With no threats presenting themselves, Kleys will sweep the hallway/walls/doors.
"How long do we want to spend searching?" He whispers
(OoC: Let's start with the doors, at least - Find Traps starting front clockwise: 56, 20, 80, 97, 22, 15 vs. 40%)

We can make that easy. No open secrets are discovered.
Tell me if you touch, lick or manipulate anything specific.
None of the ancient doors appear to be locked and push to open from unseen hinges on the right side.

(What about the gems on the wall? Check for traps or just pop out?)

Do you wish to touch the gems?
Licking the dust is, yes, just yucky.

Do you wish to touch the gems? (I will if your assurance that i didn't find any Traps still holds AND applies to the gems. And after i check them w/ Detect Magic)

Detect magic does show some insight.
Evocation magic upon the gems (yeah, that's suspect).
Alteration upon the staircase.
Subtle abjuration about the walls and floors.
Hmm.

"Alteration (i meant Abjuration) is probably preservation magics; the Evocation is probably traps. I'll leave them."
