Chat'cho contemplates this for a moment. An empty hand, and a purse? She tilts her head to one side. Well, she gets the sense that wizards that enjoy killing explorers for kicks would probably enjoy suckering greedy marauders to their deaths with offers of coin, so despite the fact that there seems to be nothing in the other hand, she chooses that one, reaching out with one of her other arms to place it in the empty spot in the hand currently not holding anything. She never valued coins much, anyway, as a Thri-Kreen, and the purse seems to her as if it should be an obvious trap. Perhaps the other hand once held something, but fell out or was taken by another--but that's a risk she feels like taking. "You have chosen courage." A golden glow shines from one member of the party's forehead to the next starting with Chat'cho and ending with Coden. "May it see you safely through the hardships to come. In exchange for this gift, I entreat that you release me from this binding if a way becomes known." From there the statue remains silent. [Please mark on your sheets that each PC gains a temporary +2 bonus on all saving throws vs. any fear or awe effect, lasting until the character fails such a save.] |

Chat'cho cocks her head to one side, confused but not displeased. Deciding that this warrants possibly costly experimentation, Chat'cho attempts to cast a Remove Curse spell on the statue that has spoken to her, on the off chance that this effect counts as a curse.

As the bouncing light jumps from one to another, Quila tries but fails to duck, and exclaims “What was that, what happened?” |

“Why should we not confer some more with that statue mentally and make sure we don’t leave something we don’t know. I don’t run into ‘gifts’ in undead warlord tombs normally, do you?”
Quila moves to the statue Chat’cho was near before and gives it another look. “Did anyone say this one also still radiated magic? Can you tell me how strong and what type of magic? Abjuration or illusion or …?”

While everyone is looking at the statues, Attilius says "If someone can get the magic off this door, I could get it off it's hinges. That much bronze could get us a good price back home..."

The Conjuration/Summoning could also indicate that we have here something extraplanar and the enchantment could be a binding effect keeping it here, either in this shape or spatially, or both. How else would this one statue radiate magic and the others not in combination with the fact that it seems to be mentally present making contact."
(OOC: Bob, does this statue give off any different vibes than the rest of the area so far? And what does it really really look like?)

Attempts to contact the beautiful, lithe, begowned statue are for naught. She is the only statue that does not have the same level gaze that the others do, and she still is technically blindfolded (much like our real world blind Justice with the scales & balance). The bound hands "binding" is that of a thin rope tied in a complex weave about her wrists, leaving her no choice but to eternally plead for mercy.
She looks out of place, more fitting for a temple than a tomb.
You do feel different, confident and calm. Each of you do, as if all your anxiety has been wrung from your core like a sponge.
Don't get used to it.

Chat'cho slowly moves to open the only door she can see out of this room, making sure to take it slowly in case her instincts warn her that opening it is a mistake--likely because of a waiting monster on the other side or similar misfortune.
