"We are already split up. Catch a breath already!"

Calling to the team still in the statue chamber:

He crouches low to keep 1 hand on his club, with his free hand ready.

Quila is still at the entrance of the door with the fountain, hearing the exchanges taking place but intent on the quite small central structure causing all this ruckus.

"This fountain is 5 by 5 feet. Dangerous to say but how big of a disaster could it contain. I do feel my object location pointing me 150 feet to the south east for one of these vials. That's a ways to go beyond this room. I would enjoy not spending the whole day here and be out before night. Can anyone throw in a small rock into the fountain and see what that triggers, if anything?"

Chat'cho picks up the nearest small stone she can find on the floor and gently tosses it ahead, into the cistern.

It clangs off the armor and into the empty pool.

Nothing dramatic occurs.

Chat'cho, becoming more and more convinced that she's not really in any serious danger here, begins to slowly work her way around to the other side of the room, keeping close to the room's walls and away from the cistern.

Moving close to the walls causes no woe to the kreen druid. Keeping an eye on the empty pool as she passes, she notices some brown dirt like stuff underneath the skeletal remains. But other than that, it just feels cold in here. Far from the liking of her kind.

Meanwhile the goliath fails to get the proper leverage to rip the door from it's hinges. How emasculating.

Chat'cho, at the other end of the room, gestures at the door. "Look, it's saxhe. Let's go. Sommething *rown is under those *ones."

Niachi is one of the few experts of underground living... and he truly is in his element.

This could be one of two things, but the cold and slightly lighter, non-reddish coloration has him certain.

This is BROWN MOLD. It sucks the heat from fires and grows, then eating away at any organic matter and heat in this process as it grows. Luckily, no one has tried to BURN it, as that would've been a CATASTROPHE.

Someone as large as the half giant would cause it to spread if they got close enough, drawing the very heat from the large body. Niachi has seen them envelop whole goblin spiders in the past.

They are killed by sunlight or cold related spells.

At the druid's mention of "brown stuff" Niachi's pointy ears perk up higher. As the kreen begins her exit, he rises to his full height, shines his Light orb down into the basin and freezes. He pings his familiar, which starts squawking like a deranged parrot, flapping its cute razored wings to get everyone's attention:

"Brown Mold in the basin! It feeds on heat! NO Flames! Attilius stay back from it! You could draw it to you and then you're melted!  Only cold or sunlight will kill it!"

He pauses, eyes widening at the sight of All That Metal over the mold.

"Spellcasters! Any Sun or Cold magics? I have some Cold to bring."

He remembers to check the roof and corners of this chamber with his light stone.

Attilius'seyes widen as he steps far away from the fountain room. He'll keep overwatch from the statue rooms N.E. corner

"How does it respond to cold? If I freeze the fountain, will it die?" asks Coden.

"That a*ears to *e the consensus, yes."

Coden stares a bit disconnectedly at the fountain. Nothing visible happens.

(Activating Cryokinesis, rolled a 3. Will take several rounds of maintenance for it to get really cold.)

Coden states this, but to Niachi's practiced eye, it seems that the mold begins to shrink and shy away into itself as the power activates. After 3 minutes, it appears completely frozen and may even be neutralized.
